Somehow this particular two legged devil had moved so quietly that Izuku didn't even wake up until it was far too close. Is this due to one of these quirks he read about before falling asleep? Talk about manifesting the world around you...

This however wasn't the time to ponder the intricacies and mysteries of the universe. There was a human within grabbing distance to Izuku. He had to get away and preferably immediately. That was something easier said than done because his brain had decided that now was an excellent time to remind him of what happened the last time a human had caught him.

Back then Izuku hadn't thought of not sleeping on the ground, he didn't know it was dangerous. Granted the danger came after and not technically because of his sleeping location. He still remembers the small hands that picked him up so gently while he slept. They had reminded him of the woman in his dreams so he didn't wake up until they put him down much later.

He then realized it wasn't part of his dream and one of the human kittens had stolen away with him to their lair. She was kind enough though, and respected that he was scared of a strange place. She offered food and water each day no matter how many times Izuku protested by refusing to eat. After a while though his stomach got the better of him and he ate the food the small devil offered. Something he was rewarded with being cornered into a box and then to top it off a visit to the place with cold tables and hands - so many hands all over him. . .

Sure they took care of that patch of fur other small devils had burned off with tiny things that had made too much noise. He would later learn they were fireworks. It didn't matter if he felt better after. It didn't matter that he grew to actually like the small one, that he felt safe for the first time ever. The nights he would spend cuddled and warm next to the small one. None of it mattered. It was all just a lie to break him even further. The small one's father shoved him harshly into the box one day to take him to a place even worse than where the cold tables were. There they threw him in a cage next to other scared and broken members of his kind.

The small devil never came for him, nobody did. Nobody ever left this place if the stories those around him told him were true. Worse still there was a door where they took some and they never came back with them. It was only due to luck and coincidence that Izuku managed to escape through an open window one day. He learned to NEVER trust a human again, even the kinder ones.

This particular human in front of him now was far too strange for Izuku's liking. Not only did it seem to understand exactly how cornered he felt when he awoke with him standing over him, but he also made no moves to try and catch him. His movements made no noise or sense to Izuku. Slowly it retrieved a can of some description from inside the outer fur humans put on.

When he opened it the unmistakable scent of fish filled Izuku's nostrils. This human must be a fool to think he could catch Izuku so easily. He's survived weeks without food and his willpower was far superior to any measly housecat's. Besides what kind of moron gives the food before capturing its prey?

It put the can on the ground and stepped back? This human was really too strange for words. Especially the words it spoke. "Okay kitten, I'm backing off now. I'll just leave this here for when you want it. I'd love to take you home to show Zashi just how cute you are but I still have work to do tonight."

It spoke like Izuku could understand him, sure others of his kind have done that but it always came with a cutesy tone as if to mock him. Not this one, no. Though perhaps it was too sick to do that? The more he studied the man's movements for signs of danger the more it looked like he was seconds away from falling over. It made sense given the hours humans insist on being awake. . .

Just as Izuku was pondering how stupid humans were, this one did something that shocked him and for some reason made his body move on its own. He ran to the edge of the rooftop. Izuku knows how clumsy these creatures are. They can't even land on their own feet, so when this one made to run off the roof for some reason he had to stop him. Before he knew why he ran at the human and claw grabbed his leg.

"Ouch!" It yelped in surprise and looked down at Izuku with wide eyes as realisation hit him. "Oh, were you trying to save me there kitten?"

Izuku relaxed his claws and let go when he came back to his senses. Not only did he just save one of these two legged devils but he's increased the chances of this one capturing him. Usually Izuku is glad for his instincts but he'd curse the one that made him do this till the day he died, which considering how this human was coming closer now might be tonight for all he knew.

"Stay back!" Izuku hissed even if he knew none of the humans ever heard what he said.

The human stopped in its tracks with wide eyes. "Did.. you just talk?" his question seemed to shock even himself.

Izuku stopped backing up slowly when he processed the question. Did he hear that correctly? The human had heard him? This one was indeed strange. He had to test it out though. Maybe he hadn't made it down the building earlier and he hit his head. Maybe he was still asleep?

That had to be it, he was asleep. Figuring it out Izuku relaxed and sat down laughing. "Thank tuna!" he said, relieved.

"I'm just dreaming, for a second there I thought a human had actually heard me for once."

To Izuku's horror the human spoke again "If you're dreaming then I definitely am!"

His body grew stiff as he slowly looked up at the curious man now sitting on its heels looking intently at him. "You, you can hear me?" He asked

Slowly it gave Izuku a nod.
