Izuku found himself thinking that this human was strange in more ways than one. Beyond the glaringly obvious part where this one could actually hear him was the way he took the fact that he could speak so well. Izuku was quite certain that were there ever a time someone did understand him they would freak out. It also was out and about at a reasonable time. Not like the others who live their lives backwards sleeping during the night. However, here this one was offering to decipher his origin. Offering a chance to speak with another quirked animal. What's more this animal was in charge of a human institution.

An animal having power over the two legged devils? Izuku couldn't deny his whiskers tingled at the idea of meeting such a creature. This one called it the smartest mammal on the planet. Though to Izuku that doesn't mean much. To him it was more likely that this creature had a decent intelligence and humans are just amazed at anything more coordinated than them.

Still even if the prospect was tempting he needed to trot lightly. He's fallen for false lures far too many times in his life to just jump at this, no matter how appealing. What did this particular human gain from this? They almost never do anything without expecting some sort of return. With this in mind Izuku eyed the hand currently lodged in a pouch of his outer fur, what was he reaching for? It's too early to let his guard relax.

"What would you want in return for this human?" Izuku asked, making sure to not relax in case it made a move to capture him.

"I'm not sure what you mean" came the answer.

Izuku sighed at the confusion on its face and clarified "I know humans are slow but I did have hope for you. In return for you introducing me to this Nezu. What do you want?"

The confusion on its face morphed into a smirk "Nothing"

"I don't have time for human humour, just tell me." annoyance clear in his tone

It's not a joke kitten, I really don't want anything from you. I just want to help.

Izuku didn't know if he should yell or laugh at this human's almost convincing tone. Nothing?! It wanted nothing in return for helping him? Inconceivable, even the kindest of their kind expect something from him.

If they fed him they expected to be able to pet him, which if he's honest a good ear scratch can't be beat. If it's not to paw at him then they expect him to chase away the mice and rats in the alley he lives in. Izuku couldn't afford to believe that help came at no cost to him. That would be a dangerous habit. The more he thought about it his fur stood on end with annoyance and bubbling fury.

"Izuku hissed then said "Don't lie to me you two legged devil!" his verdant green eyes seemingly gaining a glow. "There's always a cost with you creatures, even among yourselves. Nothing is free."

Izuku got lower, readying himself to sprint away if the human retaliated against his show of anger. No not if, he was sure actually it was when and knowing that, he felt a small part of his anger turn inward for chasing off the only human who could connect him with real help. Not that he needed help. He was perfectly content to live his life like he has been. It just would have been nice to know where he came from.

The look upon the human's face and how it subtly removed it's hand, where it's been tucked into its outer fur. The deliberate movement as if to show it's not posing a threat sparked something in Izuku. Something he only remembers from his recurring dream, the woman who gave him his name. The one who shares his eyes, she always has the same look on her face. It takes a moment but he defines it as sadness.

"I'm sorry other people have treated you badly enough that you believe that" He started with and gave a heavy sigh "but my job is literally to save others. I'm a professional hero and that means I just want to help, no charge. Just because I want to."

Izuku thought it over and the concept still sounded strange and definitely not something humans would have come up with. Perhaps the concept came from this Nezu? He couldn't believe he was going to do this but reluctantly he started getting closer to the human. Still cautious but giving it a sliver of trust hoping he wouldn't regret it later on.

Izuku was within arms reach now if it stretched out it could grab him, he sat down and looked at it. "Fine human, how do you intend to do your job as you say? Is this Nezu of yours close?"

Humans if nothing else are expressive creatures and even if this one appeared more stoic than the rest the relief on its face was apparent. "I can call now and we can go see him, if you'll let me take you there?"

There it was. In exchange for the help, he had to go with him and trust he wasn't going to end up back in the death house. In order of locations he'd rather end up the death house was at the bottom for obvious reasons. He also didn't want to just be taken back to this one's nest to end up its pet. He is not a house cat! There wasn't much other option if he wanted to learn about himself though. It was this or get away now and always wonder. . .

Izuku ignored every part of himself that screamed at him to run away and move directly in front of this human. He barely had to move and he could pick him up now. Izuku averted his eyes as he spoke again. "I agree to this then against my better judgement. If you take me to the death house instead, know that I will find a way to haunt you devil!"

Izuku felt himself being picked up bracing himself for the discomfort that comes with it, but instead it seemed like this one knew how to properly hold him. This human is quite the oddity, then all thoughts melted away as it scratched his head and behind his ears unlike anyone else ever had. Embarrassingly Izuku found himself purring.

Part of the fur the human was wearing seemed to come alive like a snake and were it not for the head pats calming him. . . Well he almost certainly would have panicked and clawed the human again as it used the alive fur to swing down to the street.
