The week after Izuku's date with Denki is both the best and most awkward time he's had at U.A. He's so happy to be dating the other that he barely notices much else around him. Unless of course it's the glaring silence whenever he's around Bakugo.
He's not the only one to notice it, everyone gets tense whenever the two of them come in close proximity to each other. Everyone expects the blonde to lash out and angrily berate him like he does with everyone else, he never does. It is becoming increasingly obvious that he wants to talk to Izuku but the words never actually go said aloud.
So after a nearly disastrous heroics class in which Bakugo was part of his team but still hadn't spoken to him, causing them to almost lose, Izuku had had enough of his behavior.
Seeing as it happened to be lunch after said disastrous lesson, Izuku used the opportunity to confront Bakugo. Personally he'd rather it not be in the locker rooms but the way the explosive boy is acting, it's either now or in sixty years when he finally gathers the courage.
So before changing back into regular class clothes Izuku slammed his hand against the locker next to Bakugo. This gained the attention of every boy in there, including the intended target. Who right this second appeared to struggle between deciding if he should be angry or actually speak to Izuku.
"Say something already! We nearly lost because of your refusal to talk to me. If you want to explode and yell, do it already! I'm sick of you looking like a wounded alley cat when you see me."
Izuku prepared himself for Bakugo to give in and yell and threaten with his quirk like he does with everyone else. Instead he laughed, actually full body, bending double and holding his stomach laughing.
When he calmed down enough to speak he wiped his face and turned to fully face Izuku. "You're the only one who's ever asked me to explode and yell. I wasn't talking to you because I have to apologize and that's not something I do. I'm rarely wrong."
Izuku raised an eyebrow in disbelief that Bakugo actually thought that, but his face relaxed when he realized if there ever was anyone to actually think that, it would be Bakugo. Still he said he wanted to apologize so maybe there's hope for his overinflated ego.
"Is this about the shit you spewed last week at lunch?" Izuku asked, leaning against the locker.
Bakugo nodded "Yeah, I meant it as a joke." his eyes locked with Izuku's "I really did, but others have shown me that it was a shit joke. I am sorry"
Izuku sighed. "Was that really so hard to say?"
Bakugo's face turned serious. "Like I said, I'm rarely wrong. Plus there's something I'm supposed to tell you, but didn't want to before. Still don't want to, really."
Well, that's enough to make anyone concerned and Izuku wasn't entirely sure what to make of it. With how dramatic the blonde seems to be the thing he doesn't want to tell Izuku could range from him being in love with him to needing to borrow his math notes.
"Which is?" Izuku asked, wary of actually getting an answer.
"Mom doesnt want Ibuki to know he's adopted. She apparently already spoke to your dad about it. I know you wanted to get to know him, but she doesn't want that"
Izuku felt like someone had just stepped on his tail. It was a sharp pain and he almost wishes he hadn't forced this encounter. Except he knows it would have had to happen at some point. He even partially expected this outcome, it hurts to know he'll probably never interact with his baby brother. However he's also happy that he has people looking out for him to the extent of being overprotective.
Swallowing the lump in his throat Izuku nodded at Bakugo. "Apology accepted Bakugo." Izuku said moving to leave, but he turned around before he got too far. "I'm glad he has people who care enough to protect him. All i ever wanted was to know he's happy, so thanks"
