The rest of the classes Izuku had before lunch were quite awkward for him. He didn't think everyone who had seen his scar would be so concerned by it. Not that anyone beyond Bakugo had said anything about it, but while he might be socially behind the rest of them... He's certainly not oblivious to the nervous and guilty or lingering stares he's been getting from them.
On top of that Bakugo was seated right in front of him and he had a constant view of Kiki. This meant between the boys staring, Bakugo grumbling under his breath and Kiki still being oblivious to his existence... Izuku had been forced to keep his eyes on his desk and schoolwork. That would have been fine if it didn't turn out Nezu had already taught him these things, meaning he was done before anyone else, leaving him bored.
His only saving grace was that because the grape headed pervert was expelled there was an empty seat behind him, in which Kaminari had promptly placed himself. Sure he felt nervous having his crush so close but it was better than having him in his field of view too.
By the time the lunch bell rang Izuku was too relieved to see his dad had called over the very two people causing him the most stress so far. The class filed out in a loud chatter, a noise Izuku very soon discovered he cared very little for as he covered his ears.
That of course meant he hadn't heard Kaminari talking to him and gave a squeak of surprise as he felt a gentle tap on his forearm. Instantly his face was blood red as he saw Kaminari standing there with that overly white smile of his. Izuku isn't weird about teeth or anything but he couldn't help but wonder why he had never noticed just how perfect Kaminari's were. His set of sharp fang-like cuspids looked quite efficient enough to take down prey. Izuku was aware most people called them canines but he refused to associate what, to him, are clearly more cat-like features to something as common as a mutt.
"Hey there, So you cut your hair?" said with a wave when Izuku removed his hands from his ears. He then proceeded to turn an even brighter shade of red than Izuku was. "I mean, it looks good. Not that you looked bad with the long hair before. Just different. Not that different is bad..."
Izuku could swear he saw steam coming off of the blonde and he couldn't help but giggle. For once he wasn't the one making a fool of himself and he couldn't help like the boy in front of him even more because of it.
He also felt that brief amount of bravery he had felt earlier. He tucked a few strands of his hair behind his ear and smiled at him. "Thank you Kami. I got gum stuck in it so I didn't have much of a choice."
The blonde locked mildly stunned at the shortened version of his name and smiled widely afterwards. "Gum huh?" He chuckled lightly and then his ears got slightly pink again and his gaze drifted to the side. "So do you maybe want to -" Kaminari had started to ask but then was cut off when from the front of the classroom they heard– "Yamazawa, Kaminari you can talk later. Yamazawa report to my desk please."
"Coming sir." Izuku reluctantly said, silently pissed that his dad had interrupted. Was Kaminari about to ask him out? To lunch? To marry him? To have a litter together? Izuku shook his head of those notions as he walked up to his dad's desk. That would be moving far too fast but he couldn't help but blush at the idea of that anyways...
Kaminari looked nervous as he made a quick retreat out of the classroom not saying anything, clearly scared of their teacher. Izuku couldn't help the smile on his face as he watched him do a sort of mix between a run and fast walk.
His smile didn't last though as he noticed the two people also at his dad's desk. One of them wearing his constant scowl and looking rather impatient. The other looked entirely confused about what she was doing there and nervously fidgeting.
"Bakugo, go wait outside. I'll call you in when it's your turn."
"What? That's bullshit. I waited like you said I should and now you wanna not do this?! Why is she even here?" he asked, annoyed and pointing to the girl.
"Language Bakugo, do as you're told." His dad reprimanded the scowling blonde
"Not that I agree with his attitude sensei but, why am I here?" the girl asked, her voice wavering slightly.
"Both of you are here because of me." Izuku said, earning a tongue click from Bakugo and a confused look from the girl.
Izuku had to look away from her, remembering a near identical look on her face when she'd ask her mom why her dad is always so angry. Instead he looked at Bakugo.
"I don't know what you have to do with me, but I want to know. Could you just wait? This is important too."
"Tch!. Whatever" Bakugo said, clicking his tongue again, shoving his hands in his pockets and stomping to stand out in the hallway, closing the door a little harder than was needed.
The change in his dad's demeanor was near instant once Bakugo was outside of earshot. "Now, This might be either shocking or disturbing news. If you feel the need Hound dog, our school counselor has made himself available."
She lost a bit of color hearing this. "Okay now you're kind of scaring me sensei. What could be so bad? It's the first time I've ever seen you Yamazawa. How does he have anything to do with me?"
Izuku frowned. "Dad, don't scare Kiki like that..."
"Kiki...? Dad...? I'm so confused."
Izuku held the back of his neck as he faced her. "Sorry... Uhm. It's nothing bad, you did nothing wrong."
This seemed to relax her somewhat. "Okay, so what is this about? And did you just call Aizawa sensei dad and me Kiki?"
Izuku blushed, letting his pet name for his former friend slip like that. "Ah right, Sorry. See the thing is..." Izuku started looking back at his dad for support who only nodded with kind eyes.
"You used to be my friend when I was a kitten."
"I'm sorry, what?" Her eyes widened with confusion and now a tinge of skepticism.
"I... uh... Well up until when I had just turned fourteen I didn't know that I am a human." Izuku finished averting the questioning gaze of the girl in front of him.
"So you're saying you used to be my cat?"
"Yeah for a while, until your dad... uhm well he– i'm not sure you want to know." Izuku finished his voice lower than when he had started.
"This isn't some kind of joke, right sensei?"
"No, It isn't. I can verify most of it, I was the one who found him and then later adopted him." His dad said, laying a gentle hand on Izuku's shoulder. "For reasons Izuku alone has to decide if he's ready for you to know, he did in fact live for ten years as a cat."
"Okay... So what did my sperm donor do?"
"The main reason I wanted to talk to you is because apart from the random shop owners in my alley, you were the only human who was kind to me." She looked sad hearing that but Izuku pressed on.
"I didn't want you thinking I ran away or didn't appreciate the time I spent with you. I know it's not my place either but I kind of wanted to make sure you're okay too." Izuku sniffed, holding back a few tears.
"I was so worried about you while I was in the dea- pound–" Izuku quickly corrected himself when his dad gently squeezed his shoulder. "Your dad was always so angry."
She looked stunned for a second and then chuckled bitterly. "That's an understatement. I remember briefly having a cat but he told me I was a bad girl so it... you ran away. I'm glad he lied like always."
She looked lost for a second and then smiled sadly. "I am safe now yes, he's in jail for trying to kill my mom"
"Oh Kiki..." Izuku gasped and hugged her, probably a bit too fast but she only giggled before she pressed her face into Izuku's chest and cried.
After a bit she sniffled and pulled away slightly and then ruffled Izuku's hair. "I knew deep down you didn't run away fluffy."
Izuku only chuckled at his old given name. He had to agree with it though. His fur and hair has always been soft and fluffy, no matter the length.
"It's the first day so lunch is two hours. You're welcome to go there or to hound dog if you want to." His dad spoke up.
She shook her head smiling. "I'm fine Aizawa-sensei. Take good care of fluffy for me." she teased as she broke the hug and poked Izuku's side.
His dad had the audacity to actually laugh at that. "Haha, will do Jiro."
