A knock came to my door. Expecting Amber i didn't bother to move to go get it. After it didn't stop for a while i groaned and dragged my feet to the door.
Or maybe i just like the feeling of soft carpet under my feet? either way i took my time.
"Jothi! I know you're awake!" Tali pounded her fist to the door.
I threw open the door...and saw a totally different girl than my cousin.
Her freckles were covered by make up. Her red, wavy hair in cascading curls. If i couldn't tell any better it looked like her hair was lighter and shorter than what i remembered.
she came into my room as i closed the door behind her. she looked around my room and decided to sit on the small couch by the window.
"I guess i got the bigger room." she said awkwardly.
"I guess so. something you wanted?" i asked hopping into my bed.
"just wanted to see how your make over went." she played with a curl.
"okay i guess." i played with a loose thread on my comforter.
"You...look the same. I mean, Javier my stylist, suggested a lighter red color would go best with my skin tone. He covered up my freckles with some foundation too. You know how much i loathed that. He's even getting me contacts for today. You know those coverings for your eyes that change the color for a few months? They'd where off in three months so i'd have to get new ones annually."
i starred at this stranger who was suppose to be my cousin.
Ariel has really worked her magic.
"what have they done to you?" i mumbled.
Tali took time from her busy long dicriptive ways to look different to respond to me.
"Excuse me?" she tossed her hair over her shoulder and somehow it annoyed me.
"Your different." i shrugged.
"What do you mean? I'm not me because i took some etiquette classes? Or because i actually want to be here?" she stood and crossed her arms. i couldn't help but notice how fancy she'd dressed just to come see me.
In a long yellow, glittery dress with a white bow around her stomach and white gloves.
"No i meant the fact that your acting like your princess." i didn't bother to hold back my signature eye roll.
"News flash. one of us will be." she pouted.
"News flash. have fun playing dress up." i flipped my hair mimicking her.
"Fine! When king Christopher picks me. You'll know why!" she stomped off.
i was hardly fazed by her outburst. Being a drama queen was her specialty.
She pushed past Amber had her arms filled with stuff.
"What's her problem?" Amber asked.
i shrugged and continue to pick at the loose strand.
"well lets get u ready for the ball. It starts at midnight." she organized all of her supplies in the bathroom then ushered me into the sweet lavender scented bubbles.
i sat back and relaxed as she shampooed and i bathed. she then moved onto my nails, eye brows, then waxing.
i tightened the pink fluffy towel around me as she worked on my legs.
"How often did you get waxes?" she asked.
"every three weeks." i closed my eyes as she ripped it off.
"Good that's how often you'll get it done here." she moved on to my bikini area, stomach, arms, under arms and back.
Amber then moved on to lather me in lotion to soothe my angry red skin.
"Now all we have left is your hair, make up and dress. And we have... Two hours!"
she practically shoved me into a seat at a vanity and worked quickly with my hair.
With how quickly my make up was done i was hopping i didn't look like a clown.
"Finally!" she smiled admiring her work.
"can i see now?" i stood to turn around but she stopped me.
"Not yet. First let me get your dress." she ran to my closet and brought it back.
"That's beautiful." i said in awe.
It was a strapless floor length number. With crystals on the bodice part. From my hips it flared out in layers.
once i was ready to go Ariel stormed in to see me.
"where is...." her jaw dropped.
"she looks so different." she murmered.
"its unlady like to murmer." i mocked her lesson from yesterday.
she closed her mouth and narrowed her eyes.
"Come Tali is ready to go as well." she grabbed my hand and tried to pull me with her.
"Amber aren't you going?" i asked looking back.
"Of course i am! i just like to be fashionable late." she smiled and showed me another dress.
"Come on!" The royal pain dragged me from my room and to the top of the staircase.
Tali stood beside. we were last in line of a group of people being ushered in.
A large party waited below.
"Presenting Princess Ariel Marliana Celeste Dawn." announced a deep voice.
she skipped down the steps and hugged her older brother. I couldn't make out his features because he was to far away.
I could just make out brown hair and a tall figure.
"Jothi i didn't mean it earlier. i was be stupid."
for the first time I've standing next to her i looked at her. Her hair was an even lighter red now. Blue contacts now in place.
Her dress was another yellow with gaudy diamonds on every part of it. Her sleeves were off the shoulder and puffy, it also flared out from her hips and flowed to the floor.
"Its ok Tali." i smiled.
"you look beautiful." she said in awe. "i wish i had your stylist." she pouted her bottom lip.
"Presenting Lady Jothi Angel." The name announced.
i was surprised he reach my name so quickly. i looked around slightly panicked. Tali gave me a little push to the grand staircase. I nervously walked slowly, the orchestra played, down the steps.
