smoke and cold air filled my lungs outside. i could practically taste the lust in the air. i choked. my chest heaved one hard time looking up at the stars. I wondered if alec saw them too.
i didn't realize i was crying until Madame swatted me on the cheek.
"We have very important visitors. Heads down, and don't speak unless spoken to!" she whispered sharply.
Tali's face paled as well as i became light headed. this was a sale.
A slender dainty little girl sat in a chair in Madame's office.
she had a delicate face. Almost like a doll I've seen once. Big brown caring eyes. Her blonde hair piled ontop of her head like a crown. She wore a simple white short dress and no shoes.
she stood and walked over as if to embrace each of us. The twins first, then Tali, then me. i openly turned my head to the side a little.
then froze. i screamed in horror and stumbled away. she was a vampire. and not just any vamp.
"Princess Ariel please excuse Jothi. she has had a bad experience yesterday. " she gave me a stern look.
my cousins put hands to their fresh wounds. my face must have twisted in discust. she was taste testing us!
"that's quite ok. She is a very beautiful girl. such strange hair though." she ran a hand through my kinky long hair.
i tried not to shake in revulsion.
"all of them are beautiful. what's your name?" she smiled sweetly at Tali.
she couldn't be so nice. creatures like them weren't capable of it.
"Tali." my cousin bowed her head.
i could see the twins holding hands tightly. they didn't want to be split up.
"But your hair is red and wavy! You have freckles and such a dainty frame. You two look nothing alike yet you are cousins!" she giggled slightly to her self.
she spoke what we already knew.
"i'd like to make a purchase." she twirled to madame.
if i didn't know any better i'd think she was just a little girl. Maybe a preteen.
"Yes. Which one of these lovely ladies?" madame drew the paper work.
i saw Tali look at me from the corner of my eye. i didn't return her frightened look. i kept a stern face forward.
"Tali and Jothi. My brother's a very busy man and never has any fun in his long life." Ariel sat and signed the required paper work.
Madame shooed us outside her office. outside in the cold the twins cried and clung to Tali. I hugged myself against the cold.
i closed my eyes. if alec was here would he hug me? would he cry and beg me not to leave?
"Isn't this what you wanted?" a voice asked.
"i don't know." i answered. i opened my eyes to Daphne.
"You wanted freedom now you have it, but you still aren't happy." she shook her head.
"What is your problem? what was ever your problem with me?" i asked.
we've never had a good relationship. or any kind of relationship. Yet she always resented me.
"Your leaving. i don't believe i have a problem." she said coolly.
"you know what? I'm glad I'm leaving. Atleast i won't live out the rest of my life here drained and left to rott like you." i spat.
Maggie walked up tears ruining her pretty face.
"Jothi?"
i crouched to one knee. "yea?"
"Be safe out there this time." she hugged me tightly.
"i will sweety. Don't grow up to fast ok?"
"i'll try not to." she wiped her face and more tears replaced the old ones.
so now your wondering wheres my mother in all of this i bet? well, she didn't come the day i left.
i remember sitting in a very nice limo and Ariel making really good conversation with Tali about our new life. When she asked me questions i simply starred out the window. making up scenes in my head where Alec would come and rescue me.
Not this time i guess.
