I pulled out my laptop and set up video chat. I waited like five minutes for Ben to pick up. After like, five minutes, he picked up.
"Hey." he said, cleary focusing on something else.
"Hey where are you?"
"Your house."
"Ummmmm.... why are you at my house?"
"Playing resurrection, duh."
"And my mom let you in?"
"Yeah dude, she like, loves me."
"Yeah, not really."
"Whatever. Where are you? You dorm room looks like a hotel."
"That's because I'm at a hotel."
"Why?"
"I'm with Margo." Ben's face looked at the screen. He dropped his controller and put the laptop in his lap.
"DUDE I thought she told you that she didn't need you."
"We'll apparently she did and she needed my help. She called through my dorm room window."
"Where is she, I don't believe you."
"You're full of it. Anyways she's in the bathroom."
"Did you kiss her did you-" I cut him off expecting him to say something I didn't want Margo to hear.
"I technically kissed her. She kissed my cheek."
"Doesn't really count but whatever."
"Yeah, we've been together for like a week now."
"Wow. Quentin Jacobsen you are like my new idol."
"Whatever. How's Lacey?"
"She's good. Video-dating is kinda hard but we make it work."
"That's cool." I heard the door to the bathroom unlock and panicked.
"Ummm bye Ben gotta go." I closed my laptop. Ben probably thought I hated him. I would video-chat him later though.
"Hey, who were you talking too?" Margo said, drying her wet hair with a towel.
"It's not important."
"Oh ok."
"So what are the plans for tonight?"
"Well, not every night is gonna be exciting. Tonight we just sleep in comfy hotel room beds with fresh sheets."
"Ok, I'm gonna go take a shower."I woke up and looked over at Margo, who was still sleeping. I got out of bed and tried to get dressed, but I realized that the clothes on my back were the only clothes I had. I decided to let Margo sleep while I drove to Old Navy. I got in the van and pulled up directions to the nearest Old Navy on my phone. The map showed that the nearest one was three miles away. Not to far, so I decided to go for it.
"Where have you been! Do you know what it's like to wake up and to see that your partner is gone! I thought someone kidnapped you, but forgot about me!" Margo yelled as I opened the door to our little hotel room.
"I'm sorry but I've been wearing these clothes for a week, so I went to get new clothes."
"Oh. Well. You should've woken me up."
"Sorry. Anyways, what are we doing today?"
"Umm, well I need a few groceries from Target but that's about it."
"Ok, check-out is at noon."
"Ok well it's 11:30 right now so.... breakfast at the buffet?"
"Sure.""Ok and there's a Target right here in this Plaza."
"Ok." I turned into the Plaza and pulled into the parking lot.
"You grab spray cheese and crackers and I'll grab the shoes and the movie 'Mean Girls.'" Margo said. I had no idea what she was planning but I trusted her judgement-- most of the time. I went to the food aisle to look for crackers. As I turned into the aisle, I saw someone. Someone I wasn't ready to see.
