After finishing my sandwich, coke, and my conversation with Jeff, Margo and I went out into the city. She pit her hands into the pocket of her black hoodie. She breathed out, and I could see her breath.
"How cold is it?" I asked.
"Lemme check." Margo pulled out her phone. After thirty seconds of swiping, clicking, and scrolling, the answer was clear, "about fifty-five degrees."
"It's really cold." I said, realizing that I was wearing only a plain t-shirt with an unbuttoned, long-sleeved, plaid shirt over it. I looked at Margo, she was wearing a white shirt with black, horizontal stripes, black jeans, and her black hoodie. She put her hood over her head.
"It's cold, but it's bearable." She said
"It's kinda warm..... For New York,"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean it's fall, and it's usually only like, forty-five degrees, so this is warm."
"Oh, ok then, whatever." I shrugged and looked in through the buildings, I could see the sun setting. I was really excited because I had never seen the city at night. Buildings started to turn on their lights. I nudged Margo. She smiled and grabbed my hand. She smiled a very convincing fake smile. I squeezed her hand, and she squeezed mine back. I looked at Margo. Her big, blue eyes blinked slowly. She looked up at me, and at this moment, I knew we were going to kiss. Nothing could ruin it this time. I leaned in, my lips inches from hers. When the worst thing happened. Something so crazy, I don't even know how it happened. A man on roller skates came rolling between us, before we kissed, rolling over Margo's foot. Margo fell to the ground in pain.
"Quentin!" She yelled as she fell. When she hit the ground, I rushed to her side.
"Margo, are you ok!"
"No, I think my foot is broken."
