When we arrived at the kayak place, Margo got out to pay and get the kayaks. She came five minutes later with a key.
"What's that for."
"Well, they said to park here and to walk one mile to the next station. Our key is to shed 2, the man said that there should be two kayaks left in the shed."
"Ok. how much did this cost?"
"About $250."
"Ok," I said parking the car and getting out, "we need to start budgeting our money better."
"Agreed. How much money do you have?" She asked me. When we stayed the night at my house, I grabbed about two hundred dollars and, I remembered at the beginning of the trip, Margo had over a thousand.
"About two hundred dollars."
"That's ok. Luckily, the good Lord has provided." I laughed remembering that she said that the night of our revenge plot. I'd never forget that night. I looked back over at Margo, after having been lost in thought for a moment.
"Hm?" I asked.
"I said that I have about ten thousand. Maybe more." She said showing me wads of hundreds.
"Wow." I said, chocking on my spit, "We should probably exchange some of those, just so we don't get to much change."
"Great idea, we can do that later."
"So how'd you get all money?"
"Well first of all, that's a question only a creep would ask," she smirked at me the continued," second of all, these are my college savings. Since I chose not to go to college, my parents got a refund and didn't tell me. Those idiots didn't know that 1. I know the passcode to the safe, and 2. The college sent me an email saying that the money was returned to 'Margo Roth Spiegelman.' NOT 'the parents of Margo Roth Spiegelman.'"
"Wow. Ok um, maybe we don't need to budget. But eventually, I will go back to college."
"Also, about that, I didn't really drop your classes."
"Oh thank god." I sighed in relief.
"I just told then that you would be gone for quite some time and you needed your classes for just this semester dropped."
"Good. Now how did you get by without clarifying that you are related to me?"
"Actually they did ask."
"And...."
"I told them you were my cousin."
I sighed.
"And my lover." she winked as we arrived at the kayak shed. All the memories from that night felt fresh in my mind.
