"Kazumi, why aren't you training!!" Sakura yelled although quickly wheezed for her breath from exhaustion.
The entire time the three had been going up and down the tree, Kazumi was sitting on the same branch as before, reading a small book (which was a poem). More specifically, a simple book of many haiku.
Kakashi was back on the ground close by.
The blonde girl then flipped a page, "I don't need to." She answered, reading the unrhymed lines.
Her smug tone irritated the two boys who had been struggling the most. Sasuke's force increased, only breaking further layers of the tree. Naruto's obsessive retry's had him land flat on his back each time.
I'd rather not exhaust my chakra on something I've already mastered.
Her eyes then flickered to Kakashi from below.
Why didn't Kakashi-sensei just assign me to guard Tazuna already? Isn't he building that bridge?
She thought, though she didn't mind this— After all, she liked having occasional lazy days. Plus, she wasn't fond of that old man. His face popping up inside of her mind made her physically scowl in annoyance.
"Damn it!!!" Naruto whined out, he then trudged over to Sakura.
Kazumi decided to peek at the two from above her book. She eyed down at them as he whispered something to her.
Oh, asking for help already?
She smirked behind a page, seeing how Naruto gleefully smiled when Sakura willingly whispered back to him.
"Kazumi." Kakashi's voice called for her.
She quickly shut her book, now sitting up from the branch she rested on. The jounin waited for her as he watched Kazumi push herself off the branch, swiftly jumping down from the tree. She landed on her feet, just like a cat.
"What is it?" She asked, approaching his idle figure.
Her eyes flickered to his crutch, reminding her of Sanjiro's needless cane.
"I'll have Sakura guard Tazuna-San with the bridge now. But, I want you to stay here." He ordered.
"Why can't I go with Sakura?" Kazumi inquired with heavy eyes.
"Because you're still recovering. And I'll feel more at ease with you here to watch out in case either Naruto or Sasuke exhaust their chakras too much." He added.
The lazy thought from before was crushed, "Okay." She awkwardly shrugged, looking over her shoulder to see her two male teammates continuously fall each time they ran up the tree. Their unyielding manner was quite admirable.
