SOMEWHERE:
A storm of rain poured down from the cloudy, dark skies. Across a field of mud and recent battle, White Zetsu incinerated away from the sinister black flames.
The Akatsuki man was manic. His grinning face, despite his final defeat, shouted a last taunting sentence.
"Suki is dead!"
His words hung dry in the wet, raining air. Sasuke's indifference shifted into that of extreme alarm.
The bond Sasuke had preserved was gone. The same bond he swore to sever and kill by himself. Kazumi's life was his to decide.
"I don't believe you." Sasuke chillingly said.
White Zetsu's eyes bulged out. "Dead! Dead! She's dead!"
Black flames increasingly swallowed the Venus-flytrap man until White Zetsu was nothing but ash.
Sasuke turned away, his balance faltering.
"You coming, Yin?"
Her voice was clear in his mind. The last moment of normalcy between them. He'd try to highlight her face; what she was expressing. Down to her mannerisms; what she was doing.

She didn't need to.
From the start of the war, it was clear where Kabuto was hiding. Kazumi felt like a fool for not realising it sooner.
He is immortal.
She recited like a worship.
He can't die.
This little internal reassurance was all she had. A twisted part inside of her wished her uncle was more fragile. Maybe then, she wouldn't feel so on edge. The old man was married to shinobi duty. There was no swaying his own commands.
If he was to ward off Madara for so long as he can, Kumo Sanjiro would. And without immortality, he'd die fulfilled.
Kazumi made sure she'd finish Kabuto off as quick as she could just to return. It wasn't just Sanjiro she was concerned about, but the rest as well.
A few faces flickered here and there in her mind. Naruto and Sakura's grins were the first. Along came Sasuke's typical backside. Then, unexpectedly, Gaara's warm eyes.
