Chapter Forty four

Antonio's pov
Flashback to yesterday
I decided to take a day off office work along with Alessandro and Domenico. I'm currently in my home office, tending to some paperwork when all of a sudden Stephano barged into my office

I frowned in confusion as he is still supposed to be at school. School ends in three hours so what is he doing back so soon?

I observed him and saw unshed tears in his eyes. His hands shaking as he struggled to keep himself together. I stood up quickly and made my way over to him

"What's wrong bud?" I asked softly as I pulled him into a hug. Trying my best to comfort him

"S-she b-blood o-our b-b-bambina" he tried to explain but I couldn't understand anything

"Calm down and tell me what's wrong. What happened? Why are you back so early?" I asked

"Noah, one of the new recruits came to call me and the others and told us something was wrong with our sorella

I didn't understand so we followed him and i-i s-saw our bambina passed out with b-blood sipping out of her mouth" he explained as he finally let the tears drop

Upon hearing what happened to our sister it got harder to breath. My sorella, my poor baby

"Where is she?" I asked trying to pull myself together. I have to be strong in order to assure my brothers, I won't let them see me break

"We took her to the hospital wing. Is she gonna be okay?" He said with so much vulnerability. I have never seen my brother like this

"She's going to be okay" I said in assurance

"I am so sorry. You told us to take care of her at school and look what happened. Please forgive me" he said as more tears fell down his eyes

"Shut up! This wasn't your fault" I scolded him. The last thing I need him to be doing right now was to be blaming himself

"Let's go" I said and we walked to the hospital wing. Doctors were running around and I looked further and saw my family

I itched to know how my bambina was doing so I stopped one of the doctors

"How is my sister?" I asked in authority

"I can't say anything yet I'm sorry capo" the doctor said and bowed his head. I clenched my fists in anger

"You will tell me how she is right now!" I snapped at him

"I'm sorry capo but her condition is unstable so I can't say for certain how she is doing" he said and I inhaled sharply

"What happened to her?" I asked

"Poison was detected in her system capo. It had spread wildly so we are trying to flush it out but so far we are having a little difficulty" he explained

Poison? How? Who would poison her?

"You will do everything to save her. You must save her" I ordered

"Yes capo" he gulped and walked away

After what felt like hours, the door opened and Leonardo came out wearing his white coat. He looks stressed out

"What's happening?" Domenico asked him

"We managed to flush the poison out. We almost lost her" he said in frustration

"But she's okay right?" Xavier asked

"Yes she'll wake up in a couple of hours" he answered

"Can I go see her?" I asked him and he nodded

"What about us?" Xander asked as he stood up

"Just give me some time with her. Please" I said tiredly and he sat back down with a sigh

I slowly walked into the room and saw my bambina hooked up to so many machines. The only difference between her and the pale white walls was her black hair that was spread around her carelessly

I took a seat next to her and held her hand

"I am so sorry bambina. They're after you because of me, I told you I'd protect you so many times but you're in a hospital!" I said and kissed her head and walked out of the room

End of flashback

Gabriella's pov
I sighed knowing this conversation was inevitable

"I'll only tell you what I can" I said and he shook his head

"You will be telling me everything right now" he said firmly

"You know about Luke, so there's this girl at school, she was my friend, or so I thought. Her name is Lexi, I found out from my friends that she poisoned my food

I asked a friend of mine to do a background check on her but then he said there's nothing on her like she doesn't exist

I don't know if she's with Luke or with someone else. All I know is that she isn't the one who came up with the idea to poison me. I also want to know who the fuck she really is but how?" I explained and his expression softened

"I can help you. Just provide me with a pic of her and I'll get the rest down" he said

"Really?" I asked

"You're my sister. She tried to kill you, I have a score to settle with her" he said darkly

I fished for a photo of her on my phone and sent it to him. He looked at the pic and frowned

"I'll get to it. If something else happens, tell me immediately" he said and left the room

He came back after five minutes with his computer in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other

He started typing away on his computer, his frown deepened the longer he looked at the screen

"What's wrong?" I asked

"Her picture matches that of a girl named Viktoria Volkov" he said and I squinted my eyes

I have never heard that name before so why is a random girl after me?

"I'll dig deeper" he said

"I found a hidden folder with encrypted files, it doesn't make any sense it's like she's trying to hide something" he said and took a gulp of his coffee

"Can I see?" I asked and he shifted his computer to me

I copied it and sent it to Enzo, he can handle it from here

"Who are you sending that to?" Domenico asked curiously

"My friend. He will help me with it, thank you for helping me with this" I said

"You're my sister, I would do anything for you" he said and kissed my forehead

"Can you promise not to dig any further into this?" I asked and he glared at me

"No" he said and walked out of my room
