After reuniting Enzo with Massimo, I went back home feeling slightly happy. I saw everyone in the living room they seemed to have been discussing something before I walked in.
"What's going on?" I asked curiously.
"Nothing bambina" Alessandro said and I narrowed my eyes at him.
Why is he lying to me?.
"You're lying, I'll ask again. What's going on?" I asked again and they sighed.
"Look at this" Antonio said and handed me a picture.
It was a picture of mom's room, it was scattered, nothing like her usual neat and tidy room.
"Someone broke into our house?" I asked softly, not tearing my gaze from the picture.
"Yes, it seems like they were looking for something" Dom said as he eyed me carefully.
"You guys were going to keep this from me?" I asked through gritted teeth.
"Yes, we didn't know how you'd react and you've been through alot lately we didn't want to stress you out for nothing" Antonio said.
"It's not your place to decide for me. It's about mom, it would never be stress for me" I said stiffly, swallowing the lump that grew in my throat as I thought of my beautiful mother.
"You're right, we're sorry. We're just looking out for you" Leo said as if he sensed my rising anger.
"It's fine" I said tiredly. I'm exhausted.
"Did Emilia have anything that could be important that would make people trash her room like this?" Tony asked.
"Nothing.." I trailed off as I suddenly remembered the jewelry box I took when I left.
"There was one thing she held dear to her, it was her jewelry box. I always wondered why she was so protective of it, she even hid it from Luke" I said.
"Where is it?" He asked.
"I hid it in my room, I'll go get it" I said and ran to my room.
I went into my closet and opened the secret compartment. I gently picked up the jewelry box with a soft smile.
I miss you mom.
I went back down with the box in my hand. When they saw it they looked confused, even I did because I've always wondered why mom held such a small and insignificant thing so dear to her heart.
"That's it?" Xander asked with an unimpressed look and I shot him a glare.
I sat down and opened it. I saw a white paper in it, I opened it and it wasn't a paper but a picture.
I gasped when I saw who was in that picture. My mom as a little girl with the former don of the Russian mafia. He had a smile as he stared fondly at my mom who was clinging to his leg.
On his other side was Maxim Volkov, looking no older than 16. I gasped, finding it hard to breathe.
I looked at the box and saw a heirloom and another paper. I opened the paper and saw that it was a birth certificate.
Avrora Volkov was what was written on the birth certificate. That's mom's real name?.
"Bambina what is it? You look pale are you okay? What's in the box?" Antonio asked worriedly and I wordlessly gave him the picture and birth certificate.
Mom was the Russian princess? How is that possible?.
"What the actual fuck is this supposed to mean?!" I heard Xander yell.
