June's POV
"Raph, Esme, it's so good to have you guys back! It's been a while," the man who the restaurant was named after greeted the couple. He opened the door wider allowing us all to enter once he realized who had been knocking at midnight.
"Yeah it has, we've definitely missed your food Mr. Murakami," Raph replied.
"I've been really craving your pizza gyoza like crazy lately," Esme said.
"Hey Mr. Murakami, it's good to see you," Leo said as he shut and locked the door behind us.
"Oh Leo, I hadn't realized you were joining them. So I guess it's not date night tonight?"
"No, it is, we're on a double date," Leo held his chin up high, seemingly proud of his accomplishment of acquiring a girlfriend. That look was wiped off his face when Mr. Murakami burst out laughing.
"Good one Leo," he chuckled after calming down. A loud laugh left Raph before Esme elbowed him, turning his laugh into a cough as he cleared his throat in an attempt to cover up his sudden outburst.
"I'm serious, she's right here," Leo looked down at me and for a moment I didn't say anything. A little smirk made its way on my face as more and more panic crossed his the longer I was silent.
"It's nice to meet you Mr. Murakami," I chuckled, finally making my presence known.
"Oh goodness, you were telling the truth," his face immediately dropped once he heard my voice, "I'm so sorry, I thought he was joking."
"You're fine, it was pretty funny," I replied, chuckling slightly to myself.
"Please, come and sit. Can I get you guys anything to drink?" I followed them to the bar and took a seat in between Leo and Esme, with Raph on the other side of Esme. We put in our drink orders and Murakami disappeared into the back to go get them.
"I can't believe he thought I was joking," Leo hung his head in defeat.
"There there, you'll be ok," I gave him a pat on the shoulder, which just caused him to sigh.
"I guess you can kind of think of it as a win. I mean you still got a girlfriend despite him thinking you couldn't," it was obvious Esme's heart was in the right place but it definitely came off more as an insult than anything else. Raph burst out laughing, not being able to hold it in anymore, only confirming that she had accidentally insulted him.
"Stop it, Raph," Esme hissed.
"Whoo, that was the funniest shit dude," he managed to get out towards the end of his laughing fit.
"You are being so rude right now!" Esme was hitting his chest as he held his hands up, apologizing in between chuckles and her scolding.
"Hey, at least I know I'm the only girl you've brought here for a date," I nudged Leo slightly with my shoulder, my words making him finally look up at me. His eyes ran over my face before he smiled.
"I'm glad about that too," he replied.
"Here you guys go," Mr. Murakami came back up to us and placed each of our drinks in front of us. We all thanked him, the mood now seeming a lot lighter than before.
"Are you ready to order?" he asked.
"I'll have the pizza gyoza," Raph replied.
"Me too," Esme added.
"Make that three orders of pizza gyoza," Leo said. Once they had all placed their orders, they looked at me expectantly, waiting to see what I was going to get.
