June's POV
"I've never played this before, how does it work?" Esme asked.
"We split up in teams and roll the dice to move. Say you land on a green square, you'll pick up one of these cards and draw whatever the word for green is. You'll have a time limit for your team to guess what you're drawing and if they guess right, you get to roll the dice on your next turn. If not you have to stay in your spot and keep trying until you get it right," Donnie explained the rules of pictionary while Leo set up the board.
"Oh, ok, that sounds fun," she replied, sitting at one of the chairs surrounding the kitchen table.
"How are we doing teams?" I asked, pulling up my own chair.
"Raph and Esme, me and Donnie, and you and Leo," Mikey pointed to each of us, seeming to have already made that decision for us.
"That works for me," Leo replied.
"Of course it does," Mikey smirked.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"Battle of the couples man. We're gonna get to see who's the best!"
Leo and I looked at each other with wide eyes. He looked away as I flashed Mikey a confused smile.
"Hmm, I don't know if I agree with that logic," Donnie said.
"Why not?" Mikey asked.
"Well for starters, we're on a team together."
"Eww! Obviously not us dude."
"And anyways, the answer's obvious. It's me and Esme because we're the only actual couple here numbnuts," Raph said.
"Yeah we are!" Esme exclaimed, holding her hand up for Raph to slap, which he gladly did.
"For now," Mikey replied.
"Are we gonna play or not?" Leo huffed, taking a seat next to me, his face beet red at this point. I smiled, snorting a little as I laughed. Hopefully if I played it off Leo would feel more comfortable. Besides, I didn't want anyone to know that I was embarrassed, too. Or that I had daydreamed about us being a couple before.
"I call the yellow piece!" Mikey exclaimed, grabbing the little yellow block and placing it on the starting square. To no one's surprise, Leo chose blue and Raph chose red. After rolling the dice to see who would go first, we started the game.
"Alright Raph, you ready?" Leo asked, holding the timer.
"Yup," Raph replied, pencil in hand.
"Go," he flipped the timer and Raph started to draw. We all watched as he drew a circle and then started to draw lines coming out of the top of it.
"Hand," Esme said. I took a second to look at it. I mean, I guess I could maybe see why it would look like one, but there was no way he was done drawing, that couldn't be-
"You got it," Raph replied. He leaned back, placing the pencil down on the table.
"You're joking," Donnie said after a few seconds of silence.
"What?" I added. "No way."
"Read it and weep losers," Raph threw the card down in front of us and sure enough, his word had been 'hand'.
"You guys cheated, there's no way she just guessed that!" Mikey exclaimed.
"Guys chill, it was probably just a lucky guess. Donnie and Mikey, it's your turn now," Leo said. We repeated the same process, Leo flipping the timer once they were ready.
