Chapter 16

~ A FEW DAYS LATER ~

"Any reason why your father is blowing my phone up, looking for you?" Mia's mother asks as she enters the room.

Mia shrugs and she sat in her bed with her arms around her legs, pulled closed to her chest.

"Kinda sounds like you answered that question yourself." Was her reply.

"Don't get smart with me now young lady."

"Mom. Would you get mad if I decided to do my classes online?" Mia asks gently.

"Well no. But you'd still have to go to the city sometime for classes honey." Her mom said.

"What about quitting?" Mia wouldn't met her mothers eyes.

"Quitting school?"

Mia nods.

Her mom joins her on her bed and wraps her arms around Mia.

"Oh Amelia. What has gotten into you? All your life you've wanted to be a doctor of some kind. You've always wanted to help people. Please. Tell me what's wrong. What happened at your fathers?" Her mother begs.

Mia could feel the tears. "It's so stupid."

"Amelia. Your feelings are not stupid. Tell me."

"I have feelings for an Avenger."

Her mother looked taken aback at that, but luckily Mia continued.

"What's worse is he doesn't even care about me."

"How do you know that Mia?"

"My last health scare. He was only around me to see if I was pregnant with his baby. He didn't actually want to stick around to make sure I was okay." Mia explained.

"Oh Amelia." Her mother wrapped her in a big hug.

Mia's tears flowed freely now. "It's so stupid. I got drunk at that stupid party that dad had to throw, and I didn't even want to go to it, in the first place!"

"Amelia. I'm not disappointed in you. Your a college student. I wish your first time was with someone who loved and cherished you. Made things easier for you. But this is the cards you were dealt. And I'm sorry." Her mother kissed her forehead.

Mia wiped her tears. "It actually was everything I could've hoped for though. I just care about him and he doesn't care about me. He trades all his shifts for being my shadow so he can avoid me. It just makes things so awkward living in the tower! My anxiety was killing me mom. It felt like I was being crushed under the weight."

"Amelia. I know it's hard. You are a beautiful, smart and healthy girl. You just need time to wipe your tears. Take some time to heal. There's nothing wrong with that. But get back to the Amelia Ray Stark that I know and love. Your gonna have to go back eventually darling. But you can hide out here as long as you need. John and I don't mind, but we don't want you quitting college. This is your dream!"

Mia smiled. "Thanks mom."

"Anytime honey."

And the mother - daughter duo shared another big hug.
