Mia had told Bucky what she'd seen. He'd comforted her that night as she cried to sleep.

"I just can't wait for this holiday to be over with." She said.

"Mia. We can go back to the compound. We don't have to stay here doll." Bucky said as he rubbed the small of her back.

"I have to see this through Bucky. If I don't, it'll eat at me for the rest of my life."

"Yeah. I'd hate to spend the rest of mine hearing about this." Bucky said with a small smile.

Mia chuckled, he always knew exactly what to say to make her feel better.

The next day, Michael was still 'sick.' But he'd ended up going out with friends again.

Mia sat on the couch awkwardly next to John, watching a movie.

She didn't know how to bring it up, but she thought she should.

"Hey John. Do you notice anything odd about Michael and my mothers relationship?"

John hummed. "No. Why? Have you seen something I should be concerned about?"

Mia looked down. "No. I just never had a sibling, so I guess seeing my mom with one is weird."

John looked at her for a moment, before he nods and goes back to the movie.

About half way into the movie, Bucky walked into the living room from his debriefing meeting with the avengers, he sat next to Mia on the couch and wrapped his arm around her shoulder, then kissed her forehead.

"What are we watching?" He asked.

"Santa Claus." Mia smiles.

"It was Mia's favorite Christmas movie growing up. According to her mother." John answered.

"Where's mom?" Mia asked.

John shrugged.

Bucky leaned in to whisper in her ear. "I saw her go into Michael's room."

Mia raises a brow and whispered back. "I thought Michael left?"

Bucky shrugged.

Mia pulled Bucky up by his hand. "Let's check."

The couple went upstairs to Michael's room.

"You want to knock?" Bucky asked as he raised a brow.

"No. I don't want to give her any chance of covering anything up." Mia answered with a straight face.

She placed her hand on the doorknob, and quickly turned it and opened the door.

Nothing would've prepared her for what she saw.
