Chapter 32

Bucky drove through the night, to get Mia back to the compound.

The Avengers, has followed closely behind.

Pepper was standing there waiting as she engulfed Mia in a hug.

"I'm so sorry Mia." Pepper said in a gentle voice.

"Dad was right. Should've stayed here for the holidays." Mia said.

Pepper smiled. "Your family Mia."

Mia nods. "I know. You are all my family. The Avengers. Who would've thought that forgetting to apply for a college dorm would be the best thing that ever happened to me? I've not only discovered my family on my fathers side, but I found the love of my life."

Bucky smiled when he heard that. "Amelia. I love you too."

Mia felt the tears at the corners of her eyes. "I love you too Buck."

Now that she's leaving everything behind, she was free to build with Bucky.

"Will you be going to the trials?" Tony asked quietly, as he walked up behind her and put a hand on her shoulder.

Mia shook her head. "That part of my life is over. I just want to move on. Finish school. Start a life with Bucky."

Mia walked inside the compound.

"You planning to be with her right?" Tony asked.

Bucky nods. "Yeah. Probably until she's finished her schooling. Once she does, and she's got a job, I'll probably retire from the avengers. Get a place with her. Eventually marry her."

Tony nods, and puts his hand on Bucky's shoulder. "So when she graduates, your gonna retire from the Avengers?"

Bucky nods. "Where she goes, I go."

"She's your future." Steve smiles.

Bucky smiled and nods. "I'll always be on call when you really need me."

Pepper smiles. "I think that's great Bucky. You both needed each other."

Bucky nods, then walks into the compound.

This was her life. He was her future.

She smiled as she sat down on her bed. "The best thing that ever happened to me was forgetting to apply for a dorm. And then deciding to stay."

She never knew that this was how her life would end up, but she was grateful.
