The Prince and Princess of Wales thought that Victoria had learned by now and that it was a good time to return her mobile phone. Catherine plugged it in to charge so that she could give it to him the next morning.
Suddenly the phone began to vibrate non-stop and her curiosity made her look at the phone and she discovered lots and lots of Instagram and Tik Tok notifications. Her eyes went wide, she didn't think her daughter had any social media, as she had been banned from it.
She decided to go to sleep and talk to her the next morning. She always knew there was a time when she would want to network, but she thought she would ask her first.
She spoke to William, who was also surprised but understood why she had it installed. They both decided to talk to her quietly.
Victoria was watching television when her parents came into the living room and stood in front of her. The teenager began to think of all the things she had done so they could tell her off as this was not normal.
The man held out the iPhone, causing the teenager to be very surprised. She hadn't expected to receive it so soon. But the adults were still very serious, which scared her a lot.
—Yesterday when I charged the phone...— she took a pause trying to find the right words —I could see all the notifications you got— she said calmly making Victoria turn on the phone to check that the notifications were from instagram and TikTok.
A lump rose in her throat and a shiver ran through her body. She feared she was being punished again and would be forced to close all accounts. She couldn't take her eyes off the screen until her father began to speak.
—I understand that you want to be like your friends. But you have to be very careful, your life is not like everyone else's— The man put a hand on her thigh and spoke calmly, causing his firstborn to calm down a little.
—I know, and believe me, I'm very careful about bringing anything up. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but I knew you were going to say no— the teenager replied, fiddling with her fingers in nervousness.
—There are a lot of people who want to get pictures of us and I need you to be aware of that. If someone leaks your account, it will be in the papers— her mother informed her, but the teenager was already fully aware of them, but she preferred to risk it.
—I know— she whispered, ducking her head as she thought about how she could communicate with Andrew when he would be forced to shut down all networks.
—We've decided that you can keep them, but Papa and I will keep an eye on you— Catherine announced, causing a big smile to appear on the chestnut's face.
—It's hard not being able to do the same things as your classmates— William knew exactly how his daughter felt, which made him feel very sorry for her.
—I just want to be a normal person— she muttered, ducking her head.
The prince would have had those same feelings when he was her age, and he knew how horrible it could be. There was nothing he could do to make it better, which bothered him a lot.
—I know and I'm sorry I can't do anything— the man replied, pressing a kiss to her forehead.
Sometimes Victoria felt very selfish for thinking that way, as she knew she was very lucky to have such a life. But knowing that her father felt that way, too, made her feel better.
She hated the press and that they wanted to know everything about her life. She couldn't go to the mall with her friends, without the paparazzi arriving within 5 minutes or even take a walk down the street without any security.
