Ravi spun around to be met with Brendon's unflattering, toothy grin.
"Wasn't expecting you, Ravs. A heads-up would've been nice," he said, his chuckle low and ominous, resonating with a deep, menacing timbre.
"This is no 'visit,' Brendon... We were just passing through, but now I must know, what is this? What's the purpose of it, you maniac?" Ravi demanded, hurling the blueprints at him.
Brenson's laughter was light as he closed the distance between them, "Your concern is noted, but irrelevant. However, since you brought it up... How about you be the guinea pig?" he whispered, his breath ghosting over Ravi's neck, eliciting an involuntary shudder.
Ravi's eyes widened in disbelief. "You can't be serious. And why are you even here? Don't you boast about having a superior lab elsewhere?" he challenged.
"Why not indeed? Consider it a nod to the past," Brenson retorted with a smirk, his gaze dropping to the amulet swinging from Ravi's neck. "Ah, and it seems Moxxie has fulfilled his role," he said, turning a satisfied smile towards Moxxie.
Ravi shot Moxxie a look of betrayal before fixing his gaze back on Brenson. "What are you implying... That he's completed his task?" he pressed for clarification.
Moxxie's heart sank. "He hasn't informed you yet? I can see you're puzzled; allow me to explain..." Brenson said with a smirk, snapping his fingers to conjure a contract from the flames in his palm, which he then presented to Ravi.
Ravi scanned the document, a headache burgeoning as he did. Turning to Moxxie with a laugh of disbelief, he said, "Nice try, Moxxie, but it's time to end this joke." His laughter persisted until Moxxie's solemn gaze caught his, causing Ravi's amusement to wane.
By now, all eyes were on the unfolding scene. Brenson clapped Ravi on the back, his chuckle resonating. "No hard feelings, right?"
Ravi's anger was simmering; he was on the brink of confronting them both. "Are you really going to proceed with this? You haven't even completed a month with us, and you're stirring up issues? Unbelievable," he said, his jaw tightening with frustration.
Moxxie attempted to speak up, but Brenson cut him off, "Moxxie, just finish your task," he said, turning his attention to Moxxie.
For Moxxie, it felt as though his entire world was collapsing. The last thing he wanted was to die or be despised by everyone, yet he was caught in a do-or-die dilemma. Naturally, he chose life-wouldn't anyone?
Understanding Moxxie's choice, Ravi exhaled deeply, removed the object from around his neck, let it fall to the ground, and nudged it towards Moxxie with his foot. "Pick it up," he instructed.
Moxxie grasped the object and extended it towards Brenson, who chuckled with delight upon receiving the amulet. "At last! Moxxie, I commend your efforts, but our agreement is not yet fulfilled," Brenson declared.
Moxxie's eyes widened in disbelief. "What? How can that be? I've done what you requested!" he protested.
Brenson gave a confirming nod. "Indeed, you have... However, there remains one final task-eliminate them," he said with a sinister laugh.
A wave of dizziness overcame Moxxie. "What? That's impossible! I can't possibly-" he stammered.
With an eye roll, Brenson turned to face Moxxie, their gazes locking. "You will do as instructed, or I shall take it upon myself to terminate you all," he threatened, his hair igniting into bright, fiery strands.
Taking a tremulous breath, Moxxie acquiesced with a nod. "Yes," he consented.
Brenson was supposed to confront Ravi and his companions, but they had vanished. Inspecting the amulet more closely, he discovered its lack of authenticity. Enraged, his flames intensified. "Moxxie, track them down, eliminate them, and bring back the real amulet!" he commanded.
