"That idiot! How could that moron be so... stupid?!" Brenson's fist came crashing down onto the desk, the sound echoing through the dimly lit room. His eyes burned with fury as he glared at the mess of papers and blueprints scattered in front of him.
Debbie, standing off to the side, calmly refilled Brenson's coffee. "No need to worry, sir. We'll have that locket in no time," she said with a practiced, almost robotic reassurance.
Brenson clenched his jaw, his frustration simmering beneath the surface. "It's not just the locket, Debbie," he snapped, his voice cutting through the air like a blade. "I need Ravi too! Do you even grasp what this thing is offering me?" His eyes flicked up to her, wild with intensity.
Debbie blinked, her face blank. "No, sir. What is it offering you?" she asked, her tone as indifferent as ever.
Brenson let out a bitter sigh, his anger momentarily deflating. "Full power, Debbie," he said flatly. "Full. Power."
For a moment, the room was silent, save for the distant hum of machines whirring in the background. Brenson's expression twisted into something darker as he paced over to a sleek metal table in the center of the room. He stretched out on it, his arms resting behind his head, as if this whole sinister scheme were nothing more than a lazy daydream.
"All I need," he mused aloud, staring at the ceiling, "is to open the door with that locket, offer up Ravi's body for possession, and voila-world domination. It's so simple." His voice dropped into a low growl as his fist clenched. "But those freaks... they're making it so damn difficult!"
In a flash, Brenson was on his feet again, rage spilling out of him as he hurled a fireball across the room. It hit a target on the wall dead center-a target with Ravi's face plastered on it. The paper smoldered, curling at the edges as Brenson seethed.
"Don't let it consume you, Boss," Debbie said coolly, barely batting an eye at the destruction. "Remember, we need to stay focused on the task at hand."
Brenson stood there for a moment, his breath ragged, then inhaled deeply. He tugged at the collar of his coat, straightening it with a sharp snap. "You're right, Debbie. You always are."
His eyes narrowed as he turned toward the door. "Scorcher! Hunter! You're both coming with me," he barked, his voice dripping with cold authority.
Scorcher leaped to his feet, tail wagging like an overzealous dog. "An honor, Boss! What are we doing today?" he asked, his grin stretching unnervingly wide.
Hunter trailed behind Scorcher, silent and stoic, his eyes distant. Scorcher threw an arm around his comrade's shoulders, laughing. "C'mon, Hunter! Cheer up. Sure, your brother was good, but Boss will find someone to replace him, don't worry!"
Brenson cast a sideways glance at Hunter, whose gaze remained fixed on the ground. There was no spark of life in his eyes, no response at all. It was as if the fire in him had long since burned out, leaving nothing but cold ash.
As they marched down the dimly lit hallway, the shadows seemed to close in around them, thick and foreboding. Brenson smirked to himself. The pieces were falling into place-slowly, yes, but inevitably. Soon, everything would be his.
After a few moments of walking, Brenson and his crew arrived at the sprawling main laboratory. The space was a chaotic symphony of activity-workers buzzing around like bees, inventing, tinkering, and testing every second. The air was thick with the scent of burning wires and the low hum of machinery grinding away. Sparks flew from welding stations, casting flickering light across the sleek, metallic surfaces.
Brenson's sharp eyes scanned the room until they landed on Ozia, one of his top inventors, hunched over a workbench surrounded by strange devices. A sly grin crept across Brenson's face as he approached.
