As Moxxie hurried to the store for some items he needed for his project, he accidentally collided with a person he seemed to recognize.
Scrambling to gather his scattered papers, Moxxie apologized profusely, "Oh god-I'm so sorry! I'm in such a hurry," he said, offering a nervous grin to the person he bumped into.
The other man, unfazed, responded calmly, "It's fine, no worries. Where are you off to in such a rush?" he inquired, one eyebrow arched in curiosity.
Moxxie took a quick look around, "Uh-I'm on my way to the store for some supplies," he replied, sensing a vague familiarity with the man but unable to pinpoint it.
Flashing a wide smile, as if struck by sudden inspiration, the man suggested, "What are you needing them for, if I may ask? I might have some tools you could use at my lab," he offered generously.
A smile brightened Moxxie's face at the offer, "Really? I was planning to work on some inventions. I wouldn't want to impose-"
The man waved off the concern with a cheerful grin, "Oh no, it's no bother at all. I'm happy to provide the supplies you need," he assured him.
Moxxie nodded in agreement. "Alright then, and thank you again; I owe you big time!" he expressed his gratitude as he followed the 'stranger' to his laboratory.
The man wore a mischievous grin. "I may have something in mind..." he murmured under his breath, contemplating his plan.
Upon arriving at the laboratory, the individual gave Moxxie a tour, explaining his various projects along the way.
"Wow! This place is enormous. How do you keep track of everything?" Moxxie asked, his eyes wide with wonder as he surveyed the expansive laboratory.
The man chuckled softly. "It takes time to become accustomed to a place like this," he responded.
As Moxxie glanced to his left, he spotted an odd device that sparked a vague sense of familiarity, but he dismissed the feeling and continued his exploration.
"Wait, I never told you my name! It's Moxxie-what's yours?" He paused, setting his belongings aside to face the other person.
The man turned, resting against the counter with a sly smile. "The name's Brenson, a pleasure to meet you-Moxxie."
Brenson's grin widened, "Before I hand over your tools, are you certain you're indebted to me?" He hoisted a box brimming with tools onto the counter beside Moxxie.
Moxxie nodded earnestly. "Absolutely! You're a lifesaver, man! I was worried I'd have to spend a fortune on supplies," he expressed his gratitude to Brenson.
Brenson propped himself on the counter, his smile taking on a peculiar edge. "Well... once you've finished with those, I've got a proposition you won't want to miss," he said, his smile unfaltering.
Moxxie returned a nervous grin and nodded, diving into his work.
After a while, Moxxie completed his task, wiping the sweat from his brow as he admired his handiwork with pride.
"I see you've finished. May I explain now?" Brenson asked, a grin spreading across his face as he straightened his lab coat.
Moxxie turned to face Brenson, a hesitant nod accompanying his words. "Yeah, absolutely," he said, clasping his hands behind him, aware of the predicament he was in.
Brenson's gaze sharpened. "It's quite straightforward. I'll continue to meet your needs and fulfill your desires. In return, you simply act as my covert assistant," he explained, his smile unwavering.
A chill ran down Moxxie's spine. "Will it be dangerous?" he inquired, his voice tinged with anxiety.
Brenson shook his head reassuringly. "Not in the slightest. Don't concern yourself with that. Your role is merely to gather information and retrieve items. Understand?" he clarified.
Moxxie gave a nod of understanding, "Got it, but...What about--"
"Don't concern yourself with anything, Moxxie...I've got everything under control," he was reassured, yet Moxxie's doubts lingered.
Clearing his throat, Brenson interjected, "I realize this may be premature, but I have your initial task. Retrieve this for me." He presented a photograph of an amulet, eerily reminiscent of one Ravi possessed.
Intrigued, Moxxie tilted his head, "What's its purpose?"
Brenson chuckled knowingly and responded, "This may seem like a simple trinket, yet its importance is immense." His laughter resonated, "It belongs to Overlord Nova, endowed with the power to foresee the future and past-indeed, all aspects of time! However, my interest is elsewhere; it's a piece for an invention I'm assembling... Care for a preview?" His smile at Moxxie was devoid of warmth.
Moxxie, with a casual shrug, agreed, "Alright," and followed Brenson.
Brenson then revealed his device, which had a conspicuous gap shaped exactly like the amulet. "Do not trouble yourself with my intentions for it. Just bring it to me, and you may resume your previous activities. Are we in agreement?" He offered his hand to Moxxie, smiling pleasantly.
Moxxie hesitated, pondering his need for resources and the possible advantages for the allies he had recently made, then decided to shake Brenson's hand.
As Brenson's smile broadened, he let out a soft chuckle, and his hair burst into flames, casting a fiery glow around them. When Moxxie pulled back his hand, the flames vanished, signifying their pact.
