NOTE: EPILOGUE NEXT.
My mood was quite off during our dinner after finding out the information of what he did to his parents, but I don’t want to cause a scene at the table. He seemed to notice it as well ‘cause I've been feeling his eyes constantly observing me.
After our dinner, he was at my back, guiding me while I walked with a walker, both remained silent. He closed the door himself while I sat at the edge of our bed.
Kaagad na nagtama ang mga mata namin. He knew that I had an issue. He walked towards me without breaking our eye contact and knelt on the floor and caressed my belly.
He looked at me critically but softly.
“What’s the problem, Nikah?”
I swallowed hard and pursed my lips.
“What’s wrong, baby?” He almost whispered, making my back shiver on how husky his voice was.
“Your Mom came to visit this afternoon.”
That’s what I only said but his expression changed in an instant. I could almost hear him cursing and hissing.
I breathed in deeply. “El naman…did you really instruct Ate Myrna that your Mom is not allowed in here? El, that’s your Mom!”
I remember getting so jealous of his parents. And his relationship with them, dahil iyon ang wala ako. I wanted his parents to be my parents too.
And I don’t actually blame them if they are acting this way.
“El, that was too much. Walang kasalanan ang Mama o Papa mo.”
Hinanap ko ang mailap niyang mga mata pero kahit nasa harapan ko siya ay pinagdadamot pa rin sa akin.
I gently grabbed his jaw, making him face me fully.
“I'm scared of them, but I'm also ashamed. It's not just about me but my family too. Our family is tainted and their reaction is understandable. And she came to apologize, El.”
He closed his eyes and licked his lips. Our eyes met again but he still stayed the same.
“You’re still going to marry me, whether they approve of it or not. We are still gonna get married.” May pagbabanta sa boses nito.
Hindi ko maiwasan na mapangiti. I nodded at him and gave him a peck on the lips.
“You already got me pregnant, magpapakasal talaga tayo, El.”
He clenched his jaw hard. What’s his issue again?
“So you’re telling me that if you’re not pregnant, you won’t get married to me?” He asks, heavily emphasizing each word.
Hindi ko na mapigilan na mapatawa. He really won’t let go of this marriage topic.
“Magpapakasal pa rin po kasi wala naman akong mahal na iba.”
Kitang-kita ko ang pamumula ng mukha niya at pagpipigil niya ng hininga kaya mas lalo akong napangiti.
“So let your parents in…we’ll talk to them and we’ll start preparing for our wedding. How about that?”
He slowly nodded his head as if hypnotize by my words.
And so instantly, the next morning, I instructed him to invite his parents for dinner.
"Are you sure, Nikah?"
