CHAPTER XXXVIII

AUTHOR'S POV

The sun hung low in the sky, casting a warm golden glow over the sandy beach. The rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the shore filled the air as the three friends had now submerged themselves underwater, exploring the depths with the playfulness of carefree spirits.

Jungkook walked through it until the water reached his waist, leaving his upper body dry. He turned to Jimin, who was still standing at the shore, fidgeting with a mixture of excitement and nervousness.

"What's wrong?" Jungkook asked, staring at him with furrowed eyebrows. Jimin, cheeks flushed with embarrassment and stammered, "I-I can't swim." He confessed.

"Come here," Jungkook said, stopping at Jimin's front and extending his arms towards the smaller man.

The waves lapped at their feet as Jimin hesitated, glancing at Jungkook's hands. Slowly, he reached out, and Jungkook gave his hands a comforting squeeze as a silent reassurance.

They walked together towards the water with Jimin practically clutching Jungkook's hands, his nervousness evident as they waded deeper until the water reached their waists. Jungkook stopped, looking at Jimin with a gentle expression. "Is this okay?" he asked.

Jimin gives him a small nod, still clutching Jungkook's hands. "Do you want to go deeper?" Jungkook inquired.

Jimin felt scared but he wanted to face his fear so eventually he nodded. They ventured further until the water was above Jimin's shoulders and reached Jungkook's chest. Jimin tightly clutched both of Jungkook's hands at this point, his anxiety palpable.

Jungkook couldn't help but laugh at the sight of Jimin resembling a scared puppy, too endearing to ignore. "You're fine. I'm here." he reassured, the water cooling them just enough to be refreshing, not chilling.

The sun bid its farewell on the horizon, casting pink and golden hues, creating a breathtaking reflection on the water.

"Wahh, so beautiful." Jimin awed, gazing at the sunset.

The taller didn't even bother to look at the sunset because Jimin already stole the beauty of it. The hues reflecting on him make him look more breathtaking.

"Beautiful indeed." Jungkook unconsciously mumbled.

Jimin's gaze at the sunset broke when he felt Jungkook suddenly dunk into the water, their hands untangling. He nervously called Jungkook's name, and the taller emerged in front of him, making Jimin gasp.

"Yah! You scared me! Don't let go of my hand." Jimin pouted, immediately intertwined his fingers with Jungkook's again.

"Can you do it?" Jungkook asked. "Come on, I won't let go, promise." he reassured, smiling as Jimin nodded hesitantly. Counting to three, they both dunked into the water making their whole bodies submerged.

As they emerged both gasping for air, Jungkook chuckled. "You can open your eyes underwater." he teased, noticing Jimin's tightly closed eyes.

"Again?" Jungkook suggested, and they both dunked once more, this time, a bit longer.

Their hands were clasped tightly, and as Jimin finally opened his eyes underwater, he found himself greeted by Jungkook's smiling face and bubbles escaped their mouths. He looks around seeing the mesmerizing patterns on the sandy ocean floor.

They both emerged from the water, gasping for breath, Jungkook turned to Jimin with a beaming smile, "That wasn't scary, isn't it?"

Jimin nodded smiling at him, his nervousness slowly transforming into enthusiasm. "But my eyes hurt when I open them." he admitted.
