AUTHOR'S POV

In the hushed expanse of the hospital room, Jimin's heart echoed louder than the rhythmic beeping of the machines monitoring Taehyung's heart. Each beep seemed to punctuate the gravity of the moment, a somber reminder of the tenuous thread that held his best friend's life in balance.

As Jimin delicately traced patterns on the back of Taehyung's hand, he couldn't help but feel the weight of the situation bearing down upon him like an unrelenting storm. Tears welled in his eyes, silently tracing their paths down his cheeks as he grappled with the stark reality before him.

There, Taehyung lay motionless, a mere shell of the vibrant soul Jimin had known. His once lively demeanor now subdued by the merciless grasp of illness. Jimin's heart ached at the sight of Taehyung's emaciated form, his bones visible beneath his pale-yellowish skin. His cheeks were sunken, his lips dry and cracked, and his closed eyes betrayed the silent tears he shed.

Jimin couldn't believe how much his friend had changed since they last saw each other.

The room was enveloped in a poignant silence, broken only by the soft cadence of Taehyung's breathing and Jimin's silent sobs. In that moment, time seemed to stand still as Jimin's thoughts drifted back to the events that had led them here.

*FLASHBACK*

"Jimin-ah," came the trembling voice of Aunt So-un's, her words choked with emotion. "It's Taehyung... he's in the hospital."

Jimin's world collapsed with the weight of a single phone call, his heart fracturing as he heard the news about Taehyung. Without a moment's hesitation, he bolted towards the hospital, the urgency of the situation propelling him forward like a hurricane of emotions.

In the passenger seat, Jungkook could feel the tension radiating off Jimin, his own heart pounding in sync with the frantic beat of the music. He gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles turning white as he navigated through the streets with a sense of urgency that matched Jimin's desperation.

"Jungkook, please, we have to hurry." Jimin's voice cracked with each syllable, his words a desperate plea for reassurance. "Taehyungie... he needs me,"

Jungkook's heart twisted at the anguish in Jimin's voice, his own sense of helplessness threatening to overwhelm him. He reached out a  hand, resting it gently on Jimin's in a feeble attempt to offer comfort.

"Baby, calm down," Jungkook murmured, his voice a soothing balm against the storm raging within Jimin's chest. "We'll get there soon. Just breathe."

When they arrived at the hospital, Jimin's heart raced with a mix of fear and anticipation. Spotting Aunt So-un and Uncle Kim in the waiting area, his steps quickened as he rushed towards them, his concern etched plainly across his features.

"Auntie, what happened?! Where's Taehyung?!" Jimin's voice trembled with urgency as he reached out to them.

Aunt So-un's tear-streaked face turned towards him, and in that moment, the floodgates opened. She enveloped Jimin in a tight embrace, her sobs wracking her body as she clung to him desperately.

"Jimin-ah," she choked out between sobs, her voice thick with emotion.

Jimin held her close, his own tears mingling with hers as he tried to offer what little comfort he could. He stroked her back soothingly, silently urging her to let it all out.

Uncle Kim, sensing the weight of the moment, excused himself as his own emotions threatened to overwhelm him. He promised to return shortly, leaving Jimin and Jungkook to comfort Aunt So-un in his absence.
