🎶so how do I say goodbye to someone who's been with me for my whole damn life. You gave me my name and the color of your eyes🎶

Dove cradled her legs as we sat on the lawn, her nervousness around me still palpable. She fidgeted with the grass, biting her bottom lip. "Yes, I do love to sing and draw, even though I'm not so great at both," she admitted, her lips curling into a shy smile.

Whenever she chanced a glance at me, her body would jerk, revealing her discomfort. I noticed every detail, and her movements were hard to miss. "Can I hear you sing?" I asked, my politeness causing her to stiffen.

She shook her head, as I expected. "Please," I encouraged, my voice gentle. "I'm not so good at singing," she protested, clearing her throat.

"Let me be the judge of that," I said, encouraging her to sing. She shifted uncomfortably, her eyes cast downward. "I've never sung for anyone... I usually just sing to myself."

"Sing for me," I coaxed. "Imagine you're alone." She giggled at my words, her cheeks flushing. "That's impossible."

"Try," I persisted, my gaze locked on hers. Her grey eyes sparkled, and for a moment, we just stared at each other. I was captivated by her beauty; her face was flawless, and I couldn't look away. But unlike me, she couldn't sustain the gaze, her eyes eventually darting away.

"Okay... but don't laugh... please," she said, her voice laced with vulnerability. Her speaking voice was already captivating, and I imagined her singing voice would be just as enchanting.

"I barely even laugh," I said, but ironically, I chuckled the moment the words left my lips. She frowned at me, and I quickly pressed my lips together, trying to compose myself. "Okay, I promise I won't laugh... there will be no reason for me to laugh because I know you'll sound great," I assured her.

"I hate that you have your hopes high," she murmured, her voice barely audible, but I still caught the words. "Please look away," she added, her cheeks flushing with shyness. I smiled and promptly dropped my gaze to the ground, trying to make her feel more at ease.

She cleared her throat and took a deep breath. "I'm going to sing a sad song," she whispered, her voice trembling slightly. I nodded slightly, my smile encouraging her to continue.

Dove took another deep breath, shifting to get comfortable. She shot me an apologetic smile, her eyes sparkling with nervousness. "Don't cry," she joked, her voice trembling. "I'll try," we both laughed, breaking the tension.

"Please close your eyes," she whispered, her voice barely audible. I nodded and did as she asked, eager to hear her sing without any distractions. My anticipation grew, and I waited silently, my eyes shut tight.

Dove fixed her gaze on her intertwined fingers, her eyes mesmerized by the gentle twirl of her thumbs as she gathered courage. She regulated her breathing, her chest rising and falling in a slow, steady rhythm. Finally, she closed her eyes, her eyelids fluttering shut like delicate petals. With a gentle parting of her lips, she allowed the lyrics to flow from her heart, her voice whispering sweet melodies into the air.

🎼"Early morning, there's a message on my phone. It's my mother saying,'Darling, please come home.' I fear the worst, but how could you leave us all behind? There's so much to say, but there's so little time.
So how do I say goodbye to someone who's been with me for my whole damn life....?"🎼

The tone of her voice was euphonic and dainty, like a gentle brook babbling in the distance. Her tongue slid through the words with effortless elegance, each syllable flowing in a smooth, effluence. The dulcet quality of her voice made my heart melt, like a tender petal unfolding in the warmth of the sun. She took the words and made them her own, imbuing them with a depth of emotion that was both captivating and haunting. The wind stilled for a moment, as if holding its breath in reverence, allowing her melodic voice to swoosh over the atmosphere like a gentle breeze. I couldn't keep my eyes shut any longer. I was so entranced  by the beauty of her singing.
