XAVIER 🥀

A midnight call broke the silence. It's timing all wrong. I had to go out, but I couldn't leave Dove alone. Mr. Meadows would be angry, but I had no choice. I lay there, wide awake, gazing at Dove's peaceful face. The more I looked at her, the more sleep eluded me. Her beauty held me spellbound, making it hard to tear my eyes away.

I noticed Dove flinch, and tears escaped her closed eyes. She whimpered, clinging to my shirt, and muttered, "Xavier, please... help me, I need you." I held her close, stroking her hair to calm her down until she relaxed and whispered, "Thank you." I smiled, unsure if she was still dreaming, but grateful she felt safe with me. I wiped away her tears, watching over her. I knew Dove had been through a lot, too painful to share. She trusted me but feared my reaction. I would handle it, though, and protect her from those who hurt her. She didn't realize how much she belonged to me, how every part of her was mine. I was obsessed with her, and she was stuck with me.

Dove's whisper pierced the night, her voice a gentle caress. "Xavier?" she called, her eyes locked on mine. I nodded, my gaze entranced by hers. "You're awake," she stated, a soft smile playing on her lips.

Her question came, a hesitant whisper. "Are you ever scared to be with me?" My curiosity piqued, I leaned in, my heart beating in tandem with hers. "Why would I be?" I asked, my voice low and soothing.

Her eyes darted away, her fingers tracing patterns on my shirt. "My dad... what if he's released?" Fear laced her words, her voice trembling. I drew her close, my embrace a shelter from the darkness. "They won't hurt you, Dove. I'll protect you," I promised, my tone firm and reassuring.

Her gaze met mine, a glimmer of tears in her eyes. "You don't understand, Xavier. They're evil." My smirk returned, a fierce determination burning within me. "Does evil scare you?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. She nodded, her lips barely moving. "Yes."

Her words ignited a smile on my lips, a smile that surprised even myself. Perhaps it was the thrill of eradicating her fears of freeing her from the shackles of her past. Punishing all the fuckrs that hurt her. But little did she know, I harboured my own darkness, a darkness that would terrify her more than any gloomy cloud. I had faced my own demons, and they had left their mark. I couldn't trust myself, and yet, I was drawn to her like a moth to flame.

"Do you have any fears?" she asked, her eyes searching mine for a glimmer of weakness. But I had none, at least, not until now. My fear was losing her, this toxic, intoxicating creature who had ensnared me with her presence. Like a drug, she had seeped into my system, and I was hopelessly addicted. I couldn't define the pull she had on me, but it was as potent as any fossil fuel, as addictive as any substance. And I knew I would do anything to keep her close, even if it meant confronting the darkness within myself.

Our bodies had yet to entwine, but she had already ravaged my soul, leaving me irreparably enthralled. No one had ever touched the depths of my being like she had, and that's what made Dove, this angelic creature, so irresistibly captivating. I remained silent, my voice hostage to the emotions she had awakened. Instead, I let out a low, husky chuckle, my eyes locked on hers. Her gaze narrowed, her breath catching in surprise. "You don't?" she asked, her voice laced with disbelief. I shook my head, my smile growing wider. "All I know is that I'll never leave you, alright?" The words spilt from my lips like a vow, a promise to the darkness that had claimed me as its own.

THIRD PERSON'S POV

Dove's gaze delved into Xavier's eyes, seeking answers to the questions she dared not ask. Though his expression remained inscrutable, she trusted him implicitly. It was a trust not born of grand gestures or promises but of a deep-seated intuition. Xavier's loyalty to those he cared for was unwavering, and his love for her was a beacon of hope in her darkest moments. He would never intentionally harm her. He would do absolutely anything yo protect his little bird.
