DOVE 🕊

My roommates were really stressing me out. Someone had spilled a green drink all over my bed, and there was so much of it that I knew my covers would be stained. Milan said she was sorry, claiming it was a mistake. She was slightly taller than me, with dark, long hair, and I knew she had done it on purpose. But why would she do that to me? It was really stressing me out. I sighed and quickly removed the cover to prevent the stain from setting. I rushed to the laundry room to hand wash it, trying to hurry so I could have time to review my notes and equations for my math exam later. Ugh, math.

As I finished up, I checked the time on my phone and saw it was 1:51 p.m. With only nine minutes to spare before my exam, I quickened my pace to the classroom. In my haste, I collided with a guy, and the impact was so forceful that my shoulder felt like it was dislocated. I stumbled backward, but he swiftly caught me, preventing a fall. His arms were incredibly strong and sturdy. When I looked up, I saw a tanned individual with piercing baby blue eyes. His hair was black at the tips, with a blonde crown that dominated his hairstyle.

He was undeniably handsome, dressed in a khaki hoodie and grey jeans. I didn't pay much attention to his shoes, but they were white or light-colored. Usually, I'd be more focused on Xavier's outfits than anyone else's, but this guy's rugged good looks caught my attention.

"Are you okay?" His deep voice made me tremble. "Yes, I'm good. Thank you. And sorry about that." I was already nervous, my palms sweating profusely - so much so that I feared wiping them on my clothes would leave visible wet marks. I've always been prone to panic attacks around guys. "It's okay," he replied with a polite smile, which I returned. My heart raced uncontrollably when his hands were on me, and I couldn't hide my shaking. I was sure he felt it too, because it was so obvious.

...

The paper might as well have been hellfire, but the questions that came were surprisingly similar to those Xavier had taught me. I remembered every single bit of it, and I was thrilled to share the news with him. Unfortunately, he was nowhere to be found, which was unusual since he often appeared out of nowhere - a habit I couldn't deny I found endearing. As I wandered through the pathways, unsure whether I was heading to the library or the dorms, my frustration grew.

Despite enjoying the paper, I was still stressed, with dark circles under my eyes from lack of sleep and constant distractions from my roommates. All they seemed to care about was gossiping about the hot guys on campus, parties, and other trivial matters. It made me wonder why they even bothered coming to college in the first place.

I heard my phone buzz from my bag, so I retrieved it immediately. I lit the screen and almost got a heart attack when I saw the name XAVIER appear. I never got a text from him or even a call from the time we exchanged numbers. I barely read the text when a reckless walker bumped into me, sending my phone flying and then dropping hard against the concrete floor. I gasped, not caring about whoever it was, but when I was about to pick it up, the person stepped on it with her chunky black sneakers.

"Oh, shit, I'm so sorry." Her foot bounced away from it immediately. "I'm so sorry, I'm in such a hurry." She said, helping me pick it up. I couldn't help but notice her purple oval-shaped artificial nails, nicely patterned with a wave of white passing through them. Her hair was brown and wavy.

When she handed the phone over to me, the condition it was in made my insides feel like they had been torn into a million pieces. The spider web crack had my screen looking white. What hurt even more was that I couldn't see the text that Xavier sent me. Could my day go any worse? "Oh no, I'm so sorry about that." The girl said, her expression apologetic. "I can get you a new one." I looked at her, and she was stunning. Taller than me, with a radiant smile. "No, it's fine."
