XAVIER 🥀

I left Miles settled and secure, with tight security in place. However, I regretted mentioning the PS5, as he couldn't stop pestering me about it. He behaved like a child.

As soon as I left the hospital, I headed to the college's security camera room to review the footage from earlier. Normally, no one was allowed in that room, but as a partial owner of the college, I had special access.

The men who attacked Miles didn't resemble any gang members or criminals, which explained why they were allowed in. Yet, they looked eerily familiar. I had the footage transferred to my hard drive and instructed someone to track down the men until they were found.

I was determined to uncover their motives for attacking Miles so brutally, and their familiar faces left me feeling uneasy. If they knew me, I would have a lead on why they targeted him. I was driven to get to the bottom of this mystery and ensure justice for Miles.

...

I was exhausted with other activities aside from having to find Miles' attackers. After having my shower at my place, I drove back to Harrington College. Despite my exhaustion, I still felt the need to see Dove.

When I reached, I knocked by her dorm door, and before I could knock again, Mal opened the door. She looked over her shoulder before looking back at me. "She's aleep." She told me, knowing that I came for Dove.

"Okay." I opened the door wide so I could enter. Mal frowned at me, and I chuckled.

"Anyway, since you are here, I'm going... I have to see someone." Mal said.

"Your girlfriend?" I asked her while staring at Dove.

"We broke up, so I'm trying my luck with someone else."

"Hopeless."

Mal's eyes flashed with playful annoyance, and she stormed out of the room, phone in hand. I watched her go, then turned back to Dove, my gaze drawn to her like a magnet. I kicked off my shoes and slid into bed beside her, wrapping my arms around her petite frame. As I pulled her close, her body relaxed into mine, her sleepy murmurs a gentle hum in my ear.

"Hey, you," she whispered, her voice husky with drowsiness.

"Hey," I replied, my sigh a soft surrender to the comfort of her presence.

Dove stirred, turning to face me with a suddenness that left us breathlessly close. Our eyes locked, the distance between us shrinking to mere inches. "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

In that moment, with her warm breath on my skin and her eyes searching mine, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.

"Mm-hmm." I sighed, my breath whispering against her skin. "Miles is in the hospital." I shared, the words spilling out like a confession. Not like she needed to know though, I just felt like telling her.

Dove's eyes fluttered open, concern etched on her face. "What happened? Is he sick?"

I stroked her hair, the soft strands slipping through my fingers. "He's got a few broken bones from an incident, but they're not too severe. He'll be fine."

Dove's gaze met mine, her eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that made my heart skip a beat. I drank in every detail of her face, the curve of her cheeks, the gentle slope of her nose, the soft pink of her lips.
