Case 3: Happy Face Hides
Everything (The Vice President
Investigation Chapter, Part Three)

ROSALINDA

I couldn’t help but grow furious, but he was too strong for me to escape.

"You smell amazing. I’ve been yearning for this, but I had something important to handle before joining you. It had to be done, especially now that we’re alone." Hindi ko mapigilang mandiri sa sinabi niya. "And out of curiosity, I wonder about the scent of other parts of your body. I want to experience them all."

"Please, return to your room," Augustus said, his voice heavy with regret and anger. A shiver ran through me, yet his presence was strangely comforting. "I deeply apologize for his behavior. I sensed something troubling him during dinner, and had I acted sooner, this might have been prevented. Rest assured, he will be held accountable. Prioritize your well-being and take the time to rest. As for him, I'll handle him." His eyes were steady, promising both justice and protection.

Marahan akong tumango.

"Before you return to your room with Harriet, please remember to lock the door—" He stopped mid-sentence. His eyes widened at a frightened squeak from below. It came from an old woman. "Mother..." He turned to me, gripping my arms. "Please go back now," he ordered, his face a mix of confusion and raw fear.

What's happening?

"Rosa!" he shouted. I looked at Raleigh, worried etched on his face as he ran toward me. "Anong nangyayari?" he asked, panicked in his voice, then glanced at the man lying unconscious. "Bakit siya nakahilata diyan?" he added.

"Miss Rosalinda! Sir Raleigh!" Mr. Ivaldez called out upon seeing us. "Sino 'yung sumigaw?"

"Hindi ko po alam," I replied. "But judging by Augustus' reaction, the scream is coming from his mother!" Panic and concern laced my voice.

He looked as if he’d seen a ghost.

Where is he when we need him?

The police arrived. While they investigated the scene, we waited by the basement door. I kept calling Doyle, but he didn’t answer.

The detective ran to the Inspector, reporting everything. I could see him forming logical theories even as the investigation continued.

The Inspector turned his gaze to Clark, who stared back coldly.

Hindi ko maiwasang maalala ang sinabi niya kanina, he said his dream was to be an Inspector, perhaps influenced by his father.
