ROSALINDA

As soon as I arrived home, Detective Joshua showed up just a few minutes later. The guard wasted no time opening the gate for him, and they even had a brief chat before he entered the mansion.

I noticed that Detective Joshua had his hand on his chest, as if relieved to see me safe and sound. He let out a sigh and said, "It's really nice to see you unharmed. But please, in the future, if you come across something mysterious that bothers you, don't hesitate to call me and share all the details. It's better to rely on me rather than letting your curiosity lead you into a dangerous situation."

"Good evening," I greeted Detective Joshua, saka nagmano sa kaniya. "You're here to gather information, so feel free to ask me anything. I'll do my best to provide answers if I have any knowledge about it." With that, I made my way to the living room, and he followed.

As we settled into the cozy sofas, he noticed my seemingly relaxed state and couldn't help but inquire, "You appear surprisingly calm, despite having uncovered the disturbing secret of the orphanage. How do you manage to maintain your composure after learning something so unsettling?" His tired eyes conveyed his weariness, yet he managed a slight smile on his thin lips. I remained silent for a moment, taking a seat on the plush sofa, while he settled into the opposite couch.

"There's nothing wrong with it, but I can't help worrying about your sanity and mental health. Even though that situation didn't happen to you, knowing about such a disturbing event can cause trauma." He said this in his deep, gentle voice. "But it seems I have nothing to worry about..."

I appreciate his concern and warm empathy, but I am fine. It's true that the secret I discovered was deeply unsettling, and it took me a while to digest every bit of information I found. But I've had some time to process it and come to terms with the harsh reality. For me, it's essential to remain composed and level-headed, especially when faced with challenging and distressing situations. I want to achieve that kind of mindset. I shouldn't let my emotions manipulate me. If my emotions surge, I should calm myself.

Magsasalita na sana siya nang inunahan ko siya. "I found a notebook with a record of an interview," napahinto ako sa pagsasalita nang may naalala ako. Hindi ko dala 'yung notebook, naiwan ko kay Doyle. "But I forgot to take it from my friend."

"Friend? Is it Clarissa?"

Umiling ako. "No, Doyle." Did I lie about saying he is my friend? Yes.

"Oh, that mischievous-looking kid?" he asked curiously, but I chose not to respond. "He seems to have a villainous aura about him! Considering that you're his friend, I think you should be cautious around him. Being associated with him has brought us a lot of trouble." He leaned back in his seat and let out a sigh. "I'm almost certain that it's because of him that you uncovered the dark secrets of the orphanage," he added, showing no hint of doubt in his words.

I remained composed and chose not to display any reaction, indicating my lack of interest in discussing Doyle. While I may refer to him as a friend, it is merely a facade. The truth is, I don't have any personal investment in our relationship. However, as a good individual, I do care about his well-being and strive to keep him away from harm. You may believe it or not, but it will not change how I look at him.

The only people I consider as friends are Clarissa and Raleigh. Speaking of Raleigh, I hope he's doing well now. I feel so sorry that I didn't have a chance to visit him-ang daming nangyayari na wala na akong oras na puntahan siya.
