Case 8: The Mysterious Friends
of Little Sylvia (The Journalist's
Tale Chapter, Part Six)

ROSALINDA

But, because of some of my memories vanished in the wind. I cannot connect everything. I'm lacking information. However, is there something that needs to be connected? Or all I need is to risk every decision, in order to give me the answer I need? Why there's a lot of happening in this timeline? What's the purpose of this?

I shook my head to wash all of my thoughts away, as I opened the door carefully and quietly. She was talking, it's not surprising anymore since she has schizophrenia but — there's something off in here.

"Why do I need to do that?" She asked curiously, trying to make her voice as low as possible but it is enough for me to hear it.

I didn't hear anything or someone that responded to her question, that confirms to me that she's hallucinating. And that's one of the symptoms of having schizophrenia.

Napahawak siya sa kaniyang baba. "I need to kill myself?" She asked, and that alarmed me. She titled her head on the left side and asked again. "How do I kill myself?"

But, there was no show on the TV nor it was on — it's off. If it's actually on, it is supposed to have a colour bar static. But no, it's dark, a sign that the TV is off.

"... Huh?" Sylvia's reaction. "Why do I need to lock my door—" mabilis itong napatingin sa akin at agad kong sinirado ang pinto

Did she see me?

I swiftly ran downstairs and walked in where the karaoke room is. Nakakantahan parin ang dalawa, while I am trying to organize my thoughts.

But, I haven't been investigating enough. I have to observe her actions more. Also, how does schizophrenia talk? I have to do research.

It was Sylvia.

The karaoke stopped and Dmitriy hurriedly ran towards us. Sa ibaba, likuran at magi sa itaas, while she's fidgeting her index fingers.

"She — she talked to me."

"Who?" Tanong niya kasabay ang pagyuko.

"Vanessa." She said, as she stared at him.

"Who is she?" I asked.

"Old woman. She's watching me. She is always watching me on TV. Always." She said as she was rubbing her hand, as he took a quick look at me before she looked behind her. "She's a better person than anyone in this world."

"Vanessa again, huh?"

Nanatiling nakatingin si Sylvia sa kaniyang likuran. Her hallucination is acting again?

"She always mentioned that name?" I asked, and he nodded.

"Every single day, not only Vanessa but also Claxi and Inky." Aniya saka tumayo ng maayos. "What did she tell you?" Karagdagan niyang tanong kay Sylvia.
