TW: Mentions of Suicide
Narrator POV:
"So ....what do you have planned for today?" Adora asked as Catra walked towards her
"You'll see" Catra answered with a grin, still doubtful what to do or if this was even a good idea. She liked Adora but was that enough to let her be more to her than just a silly crush? Was she even willing to give this a chance after what happened the last time she acted on something she perceived to be "real" Feelings? Catra shook her head, remembering the last few Days. Adora was bad at hiding the whole ordeal of being forced to burn her own Home, the Glimmer situation and the loss of all her academic work...it started to weigh on her but that was not all. Ever since the Day she went to the bank, Adora was hiding something, something Big and Catra, as always, had no trouble seeing the doubt, fear and confusion in the well trained facade that was her Smile "It doesn't matter today....she goes back to her 'smile' a lot more often lately and I hate seeing it. Hope that, at least for today, she can forget all of that"
First stop was an arcade, simple fun that didn't require copious amounts of Money in order to enjoy it. Adora was Fascinated and shocked Catra when she admitted that this was her first time here "What? How? Did you even have a Childhood?" she jokingly asked, regretting it instantly
"No...as you already know. Glimmer and Bow took me Bowling once and to restaurants and such but never here"
Catra thought about what she actually knew about her and came up with precious little "She hides who she is, likes to help People even when they don't want it, can be kind of nice and kind of annoying...and a bit cute....that's about all I really know"
After about two hours of showing the blonde how to have Fun in an arcade (which was not hard to do for the first timer) the two sat down to eat a quick bite "Don't eat to much, i've got dinner planned" Catra said
"Ohh, now i'm intrigued" Adora smirked, a bit more on the fake side "How come?"
The hybrid shrugged "Do I need an excuse to celebrate your B-day and liberation?"
Adoras look changed to a somber one "yeah...though for how long? My Father isn't just going to give up. In his mind, i'm an investment, 17 years in the making and he is yet to earn anything from it"
"That's a sickening way to look at your own kid and yourself"
"My...self?"
"You still see people as a net plus or minus in your life, yourself included, am I wrong?"
"No....you're not" she says, letting her Hotdog sit on the plate "It's not easy for me to change but...being around you helps"
Catra wasn't ready for that and her embarrassed Face showed it "I..Im not doing anything"
"You are. You made me realize how little I actualy valued my life and how much more I could have done....hiding behind my Smile is not something I ever liked doing but it helped me to understand how fucked up my life was up till now" suddenly Adoras phone buzzed and the blonde excused herself to take the call outside
"Hey..." she said after reading Glimmers name
"Hey asshole....happy B-day, i guess..have fun celebrating with your new bf or gf, whatever she is now. That was all..." Glimmer said, about to hang up again
"Wait, wait, wait! Please at least let me talk to you, Glim. I know I fucked up, I should have talked to you more and told you about my problems...you know I trust you, right?"
"Not enough to ask for help when you're desperate..."
"I do....what can I do to make you believe me?"
