Epilogue : We are who we are

Narrator POV:

After their first "I love you" the words had become like an addiction to them, saying it whenever they could, When they met up, when one had to leave, sprinkling it into conversation, during Sex..at every possible opportunity until Their friends asked them if they were overcompensating, prompting a discussion between them in which they agreed that they went a bit overboard

"Just..saying it once was...it felt good and every time I said it after was like a small dopamine hit" Adora explained the day of their "intervention" while they were in Bed

"Hmm I get that and am just as guilty there. Maybe just say it every once in a while? Oh and during Sex...kind of gets me going, not gonna lie"

"Pff haha and here I thought it was the Spanish I sometimes use....fine, we probably should treat it as something special and not devalue it by going to far"

Catra put her Arm around her Girlfriend and let the room fill with her purr. She somehow didn't hate it when they were alone "Te amo, Adora"

"Love you too...tienes mi corazón, Catra"

Timeskip : 12 Years later

Adora never wanted to be famous but her chosen field and meteoric rise in Theatre, fascinating audiences of small and large with her acting, never really gave her much choice in the matter. She hit her breakthrough after 8 years of hard work...a Role in a Movie, made for Cinema. While by no means a big role, she finally gained a foothold in the industry, just as she had hoped for but it came with a big negative...Catra. While the Theatre world was a lot more open and inviting for LGBT People, the Movie industry had different ideas and her Manager advised her to wait until she was an established, household name before announcing anything that could cost her precious opportunities

Catra was not happy about it but understood that Adora had no choice, ultimately supporting her but insisting that they continued to live together as they always had. Multiple times she would come to regret this choice when the media made speculatory guesses of the relationship between Adora and many Male co-workers, the hybrid staying up late waiting for her without any call or message to inform her that she would be late, continuing to build mistrust between them that ended in loud fights and were rectified with louder make up Sex

Adora knew she was putting her Girlfriend through a lot and if they had not been through so much before all of this, it might have been the end of their relationship. Their saving grace was Sofia, who told both of them on separate calls : "A relationship will always make it as long as one Person fights for it...it just can't be the same one all the time"

Today was the Day. Adora Gray was being honored with an Award for her Role in "The savage Princess" and she had prepared a long time for this day, possibly ever since Catra became her Girlfriend and now she would finally stop all the hiding and introduce the World to her...fiancee.

Flashback

Half a year ago they had a fight about Adora being "distant" again and Catra misunderstanding why that was the case. During her work, Adora had been asked if she ever thought about marriage since she was already over 30 and many treated it as illegal to be single at that age. In fact, she hadn't, being content with what they had and what they were but since then the thought became more and more appealing to her, to the point where she bought a ring without thinking about it. After Glimmer got married to Bow, she never even thought about the subject and now she couldn't stop thinking about it

That morning, Catra woke up to breakfast in Bed, Adora apologetic and excited when she presented her purchase...but her answer was an unexpected one

"...You are aware that we can't just do this in secret..right?"
