chapter 27: weisz is out of practice

       My alarm wakes me up, and I'm immediately greeted by the sweet smell of cooking pancakes, eggs, and bacon. After turning off my alarm, I sit up on the bed and rub my eyes. I'm still a bit tired, but not enough that I won't be able to function properly today. Which is definitely a good thing since I have my first team practice today.

       Unfortunately, today's practice doesn't actually involve surfing practice. Instead, we'll just be at a gym and working on staying fit since it's important for surfing.

       I look around the living room, seeing that Reno, Adam, and Marcel are still asleep. That doesn't really surprise me. All three of them have never really been morning people, and with Reno being drunk last night, he's probably going to be asleep for a long time.

       I don't even know if he'll let me out of bed since he is clinging onto me quite tightly. I never thought that Reno would be a very clingy person when he is drunk, but I didn't mind. If anything, it was very cute.

       I gently push Reno away from me and thankfully, he doesn't try to cling onto me in his sleep. He just turns over, so I pull the blankets up to his next before I carefully get out of bed and head into the kitchen.

       Jane and her mom and stepdad, Liliana and Jason, are in the kitchen making breakfast. Liliana smiles at me when she sees me. "Good morning, Weisz," she says. "What time is your practice today?"

       "It's in an hour," I say. "We're practicing at a gym and it's pretty close to here, so I'll probably leave in forty-five minutes. Do you mind if Reno stays here while I'm practicing?"

       "You don't have to ask that, Weisz," Jane says. "He's my friend too, so he's more than welcome to stay. It will probably be better for him to stay and sleep this off, anyway."

       "Yes, we're happy to have him here," Liliana says. "I don't know how his parents would react to him coming home hungover, so it's safer for him to stay here."

       "Oh, I don't think his dad would mind," I say. "He's pretty chill." In fact, Roger did say to call him if both of us are unable to drive after the party, so it seemed like he would have been okay driving all the way here just to make sure we leave the party safely. 

       Marcel and Adam wake up shortly before breakfast is ready, and they come to the kitchen as well to eat. While we're all eating, Reno and Amelia stay asleep, which isn't that much of a shock considering they were the only drunk ones. We made sure to set aside some breakfast for them.

       Breakfast pretty much consisted of Marcel teasing Adam about Amelia since it isn't a secret anymore. I didn't even know that Marcel and Jane knew, but I guess once they found out, they decided not to tell me and Reno so they didn't go spreading it around, just like how Reno and I didn't tell them for that exact reason. It's just funny how this whole time, our entire friend group knew about Adam and Amelia.

       Once I finish eating breakfast, I head to the bathroom to get changed and to brush my teeth. I still have quite a bit of time before I have to leave for practice, so I just sit back down on the pullout bed and scroll on my phone.

       Reno suddenly rolls over and rests his head on my lap, wrapping his arms tightly around me. "You're not allowed to leave me," he mutters.

      "Well, unfortunately, I do have to leave for practice soon, so I'm going to have to," I sigh. Reno sighs. I run my hands through his messy hair. "How are you feeling?"
