chapter 36: reno is fed up
~reno~
The second day of training rolls around and no one has still talked to Weisz. I hate it. I hate seeing him so upset and lonely, but there's nothing I can do about it. It's not like I can force his teammates to talk to him. It will just make things worse if I even try to talk to them. I doubt I can hold a civil conversation with his teammates anyway since I'm quite annoyed with them.
Freida wakes the team up early and although guests can choose to sleep in if they want, I get up with Weisz. I don't want him to feel even more lonely by having me stay in the room while he's out and about. Unfortunately, I can't join in on their training, so that's when he feels the most lonely.
Weisz is currently in the shower so he can feel refreshed before training starts. I wanted to join him in the shower, but no, I wasn't allowed. Apparently, it would be too risky because we would end up having sex instead. He's right, but still.
He should almost be done his shower, so I'm currently making a fruit smoothie for him to have afterwards. He likes drinking smoothies before training, so hopefully it cheers him up a bit.
Marina walks up to me in the kitchen as I'm chopping up strawberries to put in the smoothie. "What are you making?" she asks.
I look at her, wondering why she's even trying to talk to me. I'm Weisz's guest and she has been ignoring him. I'm not in the mood to talk to her, so I just say, "Smoothie," before I turn my focus back to making the smoothie.
"Any chance you can make me some?" Marina asks.
I could. It wouldn't be too hard to just add more ingredients so there's enough for Marina to have some too. I could be the bigger person, but I just don't want to. Why should I? She can't expect me to be nice to her after the way she has been treating Weisz. "No."
"Why not?" Marina asks. "All it takes is adding a few more ingredients."
"Don't wanna."
"I'm sorry, did I do something wrong? This is the first time we're talking to each other and you're already giving me so much attitude."
"You do know that I'm Weisz's guest, right?"
"Yes? What does that have to do with anything?"
"It has to do with everything. I see the way you and the rest of the team treats him. Ignoring him, refusing to accept help when he offers it, excluding him. So I'm sorry, but I'm not going to entertain someone who has been so disrespectful to him."
Marina scoffs and crosses her arms over her chest. "So you're just completely ignoring the fact that he gets special privileges?"
"I'm not going to discuss that with you." There's no point. Freida has already told the team that there's a reason without telling them Weisz's medical history. It's like the only way his team will listen is if Weisz tells them he's recovering from leukaemia but he doesn't want to.
"Fine. Whatever." Marina walks off. I still don't understand why she thought I would have willingly talked to her.
Weisz has finished his shower and walked out of the bathroom right as I finished pouring his smoothie into a glass. I timed it perfectly. He spots me and walks over, so I hand him his smoothie. "Here. For you."
Weisz smiles as he takes the glass from my hands. "Thanks."
As Weisz sips the drink, I say, "You know, I'm kind of disappointed you're already changed. I was kind of expected to see you with nothing but a towel on."
Weisz furrows his eyebrows. "Why would I do that when there's a lot of people staying here?"
I sigh dramatically, then ruffle Weisz's damp hair. "I swear, you've been losing more braincells everyday. I don't remember you being this much of a himbo."
Weisz stares at me before he realizes what I was insinuating by wanting to see him in nothing but a towel. "Oh. Stop making those jokes here. Nothing's going to happen here."
"Disappointing."
Half an hour later is when the team starts their daily training. I stand out on the patio to watch them, hoping that somehow between breakfast and now, someone has smarten up and is willing to talk to Weisz. But as I watch, that doesn't seem to be the case.
That isn't the main thing I notice, though. The team is currently warming up by running to the shoreline and back to their starting point designated by Freida, and it will be going on for ten minutes. Weisz is pushing himself too hard. He's not pacing himself like everyone else, as if he's trying to prove himself to the team. But that's dangerous for him when he's still recovering.
I don't want to disrupt the practice and thankfully, I don't have to. Freida notices Weisz too. "Take a break if you need it, Weisz!" Weisz doesn't listen. He keeps pushing himself. He doesn't want to take these breaks because the rest of the team can't even though he needs it for a medical reason. "Weisz!" He still doesn't listen. Freida sighs. She can't forcefully stop Weisz.
Weisz starts to slow down before completely coming to a stop. He leans over, placing his hands on his knees. He's swaying a bit so he's trying to steady himself. Then he collapses onto the sand.
I hope over the porch's fence and hurry over to Weisz. Freida beat me there and she tries to wake Weisz up. I kneel down beside Weisz, gently shaking him. "Weisz." No reaction. I sigh. He knew his limits, but he pushed them too far and stopped too late.
Everyone else has stopped running, but Freida tells them to continue. Kyle and Marina look annoyed as if Weisz passing out is an inconvenience for them. This didn't even making them realize that there truly was a reason Weisz was granted short breaks. He needs them.
"Is this normal for him?" Freida asks.
"He hasn't passed out before, but that's only because he would listen to his body when it was telling him to take a breather. He has never pushed himself this hard. He should be fine once he wakes up."
"Okay. Can you take him inside? I'll come check up on him when he wakes up."
I nod and scoop Weisz up in my arms. I bring him inside the house and gently place him on the couch. Poor guy. I feel really bad for him. He just wants to fit in on the team, but it just caused this in the end. I'm not even frustrated with him. I'm frustrated with the team. Not a single person listened to Freida when she not only told them that this whole weekend is to strengthen the team, but that there's a personal reason why Weisz gets breaks. It's ridiculous and I wish there was something I could do about it.
