Before Jennie could open the message, Tzuyu approached her. "My dear, who do you think pretended to be your fiancé to buy you a phone?"
"No matter what, it won't be Mark."
"Why not?" Tzuyu deliberated over this. "The possibility is actually rather high."
Jennie shook her head. "Most teachers would do it secretly if they wanted to pursue a student, but Mark is making such an obvious fuss about it. With his personality, it's unlike him to impersonate someone else."
That was unless Mark had a special mission and needed to do so.
There was absolutely no need to do this over a simple phone.
"It must be Brother Nan, then?" Tzuyu making guesses.
Jennie found this strange. "Why do you think it's Jiang Xingnan?"
"He likes you." Based on Tzuyu's tone, she was absolutely certain about this.
"That can't be."
"Believe me." Tzuyu shot her a flirtatious look. "It's easier for an outsider to see the full picture. Whenever I'm with you, we always bump into Jiang Xingnan. But I've never met him when I'm alone. Although we may occasionally brush shoulders, he doesn't seem to ever notice me."
"But Jiang Xingnan has helped you twice in front of everyone..." She brought up her deliberations.
Tzuyu tugged Jennie back into the dorm. Since Wu Jiatong had already left, it was convenient for them to speak comfortably. "At first, I misunderstood it as well. But I realised that on both occasions when he stood up for me, I was defending you. In other words, you're the person Jiang Xingnan was actually trying to help."
"If you say it that way, it seems to make sense..."
"What do you mean by that? It obviously makes sense." Tzuyu was certain. "You don't know this but yesterday, a boy cut into my line when I was queuing to buy food at the cafeteria. Jiang Xingnan stood right by my side when I was being bullied yet he didn't give me a single look. Does that sound like something a boy, who likes me, would do?"
Jennie was distracted by a different point. "Who bullied you? Tell me. I'll throw snakes at him!"
"My dear, you're too good to me. I'm so moved!" Tzuyu embraced her. "There's no need. He didn't manage to cut into my queue. Everyone around him was unhappy with him. He ran away with his tail between his legs."
Jennie patted her shoulder. "Everyone thinks that Jiang Xingnan likes you. Won't you be upset if he actually likes me?"
"What's there to be angry about? I don't have any interest in Jiang Xingnan." Tzuyu continued apologetically. "I only just noticed that Jiang Xingnan likes you. I previously allowed everyone to misunderstand because... I can't beat Wu Jiatong in a physical fight. It would reduce my troubles if she assumed Brother Nan is protecting me."
"Don't worry. I'm protecting you." Jennie responded seriously. "Whoever dares to touch you, I'll take away half of their lives."
"Uuu..." Tzuyu pretended to cry. "My dear sister, I'm moved to tears."
"Alright, let's move onto more serious topics. Jiang Xingnan is a prideful person. He may send a gift anonymously, but he would never do so with someone else's name." Jennie's relationship with Tzuyu was improving. Thus, she did not hide this from her. "I've already investigated the person's identity. We'll know once we take a look at this."
She then opened her WeChat conversation with jackson to check the photo he had sent.
It was a photo taken in a mobile phone shop. The female employee from earlier stood behind a glass counter to hand the unopened phone from earlier to a handsome, young man.
Although the photo was taken from the side, she easily recognised the man.
