I won't waste no time
I won't waste my time when it come to you
Put my pride aside, give it all to you
Put my pride aside
Girl, I won't waste no time"So, he's having doubts?" Ivy sighed as she stared at her sister. Isla was folding baby clothes as she sat on the floor of the nursery AJ had put everything into just mere weeks ago.
The thing that struck Ivy the most was that in the thirty minutes they'd been talking her sister had only made eye contact twice. There was no doubt that the entire situation was dealing her a blow, but Isla always refused to have people fix her problems. She'd rather put up a front or lash out than ask for help or admit weakness. Even worse was that Ivy couldn't pull her out of the depths either, not when she was barely regulated herself.
There were a few questions regarding the security of her own relationship in the back of her mind.
"I guess, he's tried to talk since the fight, but I don't know Ivy. I want this and I know I want him , I can see he wants this too but for some reason he was scared by what Ishmael said. I'm just so mad that he couldn't just talk to me. Now, I can't get over my anger and he's kicking himself. It's miserable in this house."
"I hate that but if you both want it, you should talk and move forward." Ivy was capitulating and begging Isla to do the same. She hated to fight, and she had no resistance. Isla was the opposite but if surrendering meant securing happiness what was the harm in that?
Maybe she was speaking to herself as well.
"We will" Isla sighed before she stared back at Ivy and gave a small smile "He's my husband Ivy, I meant my vows when I said them. Yeah, I'm young and there is an age difference but that's never bothered me. It just hurts to know it bothers him."
"Isla you realize it's not for the reasons you're thinking right? Take it from his perspective, he's older and he's an actor. It's not a stable job. He's taking on the role of the provider and Ishmael made him doubt his ability to do that and then made it worse by bringing up that he had a nine-year head start and still you two are equals. He took the thing that worked for you two and turned it into a point of shame. His manhood is hurt but I'm sure he still loves you. We've all seen how he acts about you."
Isla's shoulders slumped a bit more as the realization dawned on her. Shaking her head, she waved a hand before she looked at Ivy again and smiled.
"You look pretty, New York suits you" Isla complimented "Big day today?"
"Yeah, Jordan's second game. The first one was not what he expected but he's charged up for tonight. There's a lot of eyes on him."
"He'll be fine, he's been in the gym neglecting you long enough to so." Isla assured jokingly and Ivy smiled at her.
Isla didn't know about the notes or gifts and Ivy wouldn't tell her. There was a lot she kept to herself especially when it came to her relationships. Isla was a shoot first and ask questions later kind of person and with the magnitude of Ivy's feelings, the idea of her family judging or disliking him left a sour taste in her mouth. She couldn't even bare looking at Jordan differently especially when she didn't even know what to make of her findings.
She'd said nothing about her discovery to him either.
"I should head out before I'm late. Nadia and Amethyst are keeping my seat warm."
"Amethyst?"
"Oh, you remember Jared Butler?"
"The one that hit on you?" Isla quirked an eyebrow and Ivy laughed as she nodded.
"Yeah, his high school sweetheart lives in New York so he invited her to the game. I think he's trying to get her back."
"Interesting, so you just met her then?"
