I'm aware that we just met
I don't want to leave you yet
Promise that I won't forget
All I wanna do is give you all of me now
Are you ready? Are you ready?
Jordan woke up on the 19th of June feeling like a burdened man. He was now twenty-four years old with his whole life ahead of him. Still in the past two days he'd realized how many things that were once perfect were now fractured. He'd been a Warrior his entire career, he'd bonded with his teammates and found a family. Until recent events, he'd never questioned that but now, with one punch and broken trust that seemed irreparable everything changed. TO make matters worse, everyone saw the ripple effect in the chemistry of his team. He didn't know what would happen this off season if it came to a decision between him or Draymond and he didn't want to bother himself with thinking of it.
He hadn't thrown the punch. He'd been hit and with that any brotherhood between them was trashed.
Still, he kept a brave face. He did what he had to do in the regular season but by the playoffs none of them could fake the funk anymore. Their lack of internal chemistry translated into how they played, and he'd been scapegoated. He was the problem now, expendable.
Ivy didn't make him feel that way. She looked at him as if he was the only thing worth her focus and in the past two days, she'd seemingly pulled away some too. She'd told him she had personal things going on and he asked how he could help but she'd requested some space. He gave her it, but he hated to start this day without waking up to her face.
He didn't have anything planned either. He was supposed to be in London but then he'd met her, and things had changed quickly. His friends thought his change of heart was about finding himself and his game again, but he just wanted to be close to her.
He hoped that wasn't a mistake.
She was a bright spot and selfishly he'd wanted to keep her to himself, keep their moments between them for as long as possible especially with the amount of attention he was getting these days.
His doorbell rang and he got up, ambling toward whatever waited on the other side with very little enthusiasm. It wouldn't be her.
He looked at his phone for his camera feed and saw Henry who worked at the front office of his complex with a dark blue box and a smaller gold one stacked at the top. Curious, he opened the door.
"Good morning Mr. Poole and Happy Birthday! I've got a delivery here for you. I just need you to sign."
Nodding, Jordan looked at the box quizzically as he took the paperwork.
"I got you, who's it from?"
Henry gazed at the package before he wrinkled his nose trying to get the right pronunciation.
"Ivy Sioux, I think that's what this says. Handwriting is kind of hard to decipher."
Immediately, Jordan's mood shifted to a lighter feeling. He passed back the paperwork and took the packages with ease before he retreated inside and placed them both on his island.
He called Ivy but she didn't pick up. It was 10 AM, realistically she probably was busy at work. So, he opened his camera and turned it to video before he began his recording.
"Aye! I just got your birthday surprise; I was trying to open it up with you but since you're too busy to pick up your phone I figured I'd record this."
He propped it up and began with the smaller gold box. Once he unwrapped it, he marveled at the contents inside. Ivy had gotten him some of Dwayne Wayne's classic frames, she knew how much he loved glasses. Smirking he took the note that accompanied the gift and unfolded it, only to see a picture of them from their first date at the aquarium.
