Know that you are loved
Even if you don't love yourself
She couldn't believe that she'd done it. When she woke up in his bed, wrapped in his arms it settled on her that she'd made the leap. Surprisingly, she didn't feel panic or regret. Instead, a sense of peace settled in her gut. Frankly, it was bliss. That was the only word that fully described how he made her feel.
When his eyes fluttered open and he gave her a sleepy grin, her heart soared. Poking one of his dimples, she kissed him chastely before laying back to look at him. Jordan was adorable.
If she could, she'd stay like that with him all morning but he had a busy day ahead so following a shower and quick breakfast they parted ways. It was a good morning but if she could stretch it, she would.
When she got back to her apartment, she'd wished she could turn back time. What was supposed to be a quick stop to get ready for work became a nightmare. She wished she could go back to being in Jordan's arms rather than standing in her broken door frame and peering at her things strewn about in a mess inside. The photos she'd had of her loved ones including one of her nephew were all disheveled in their broken frames. Her vanity mirror was broken along with her armoire. Her clothes were all over the place. In contrast, the rest of the home was spotless.
What had happened? She knew the answer was him, but she couldn't believe he'd stooped this low. Essence wouldn't have done this. Fumbling, she sifted through her phone to check the camera feed she had in her room. After everything, Isla had insisted on her adding some layer of protection, so she'd gotten AJ to install a small camera in a convenient corner of her room. She turned it on whenever she left. When they'd initially done it, Ivy didn't see the point but now she was extremely grateful.
The feed didn't render anything until around 9 AM that morning. Essence typically left for work around 7 AM. Her door suddenly gave way, violently slamming against the wall before Darius entered. He sifted through her things, looking over her armoire and bed. Then something seemed to catch his interest on her night stand. It was a picture of she and Jordan, luckily her hand was covering his face playfully in that one but still, the photo seemed to be the trigger. He flung it across the room and then started kicking, breaking and wrecking her furniture.
The feed went on for an hour before he exited with numerous items in his hands. She couldn't get a clear read on what they were. He'd finished this all merely an hour before she'd returned home. That was way too close for her comfort.
"What the fuck?"
Some of her perfumes were missing, after doing a quick inventory she realized they were the ones he'd bought. Isla was right, she shouldn't have stayed but she'd paid her half of the rent for that month and intended to get her money's worth. Now, she realized the principle may not be worth the risk to her safety.
Picking up her phone, she facetimed her sister immediately. Isla answered on the third ring.
"Hey how was your night with JP? Was the sex good?" She queried, not even glancing at her sister as she seemed to be shuffling around her kitchen "AJ, I don't see the syrup babe."
"It's at the back of the second shelf in the fridge." He replied easily before Ivy caught a glimpse of him in the background retrieving it.
"Isla, he broke into my room and wrecked my shit." She blurted the reality of her situation out and immediately both Isla and AJ stilled before looking up at her.
"Jordan?" She queried perplexed and Ivy shook her head "Was the sex that terrible?"
"No of course not, Darius broke in while I was with Jordan. I saw it all on the camera feed."
