Driftin' on a memory
Ain't no place I'd rather be
Then with you, yeah
Lovin' you, well, well, well"They're still not back yet?" AJ queried as he shifted to look at the door. He was met with the same sight he'd taken in twenty minutes ago; the mahogany entranceway was unmoved.
"Nah, they're having the time of their life." Jordan chuckled easily; he shrugged before kissing the top of Logan's head. She had fallen asleep on him thirty minutes ago, but he couldn't bring himself to move. Logan was a heavy sleeper, so he wasn't afraid of waking her, he was just content with feeling her little breaths and movements against him.
She was growing quickly, so he cherished these moments. When she'd first came into the world screaming, he'd taken one look at her and fell in love. She was Ivy's spitting image with his smile, there wasn't a more perfect combination in his mind.
"I could tell from Instagram" AJ quipped wryly before he took a spot on the couch across from his brother-in-law "what did we expect, we let them go with thee party planner of the century?"
"True, but Yara came in clutch with the plans for tomorrow so I'm not mad. Besides, they haven't really hung out like this in a while, I know they've probably missed each other."
Jordan's words were true, Isla always told AJ the biggest adjustment she faced with moving to Canada was leaving Ivy behind.
"Definitely, to be honest I think Isla is more dependent on Ivy than she realizes." AJ looked off into the distance while Jordan thought on his statement.
"Why'd you say that?"
"It's just what I noticed over time. Isla is one of the most assured persons I've ever met. She dives into things impulsively, but she has this kind of intuition that protects her from disaster. From the day I met her, only one person could talk her down, make her see reason and that was Ivy. She'll always look up to her big sister, but recently you two- y'all kind of got settled in DC and we all got wrapped up in our own lives. Ivy had less time to chat, and I saw the way it affected her, she seemed a bit lost. Isla has so much energy she needs someone to take some of it from her so she doesn't spin out, I guess I'm that person most of the time but there are ways that Ivy understands her, that I probably never will."
Jordan thought on this for a moment before he shrugged.
"Ivy's been getting into so many things, I feel like the people she loves got neglected. My girl isn't like yours; Isla likes leaning on people, Ivy thinks she needs to stand on her own. So, if Isla was feeling some distance, I wouldn't doubt it. Ivy had distanced herself from basically everyone including me until recently."
Concern etched itself into AJ's features as he looked at the baller.
"But you are all good now right?"
"Yeah we're straight, we don't have any other choice. That's the love of my life. She's not getting rid of me that easy."
"Believe me, I can relate, Isla and our kids are my heart."
"Oh trust me, I had no doubt especially after today. You damn near underlined it for Ralen. You did not have to dunk on that man like that." Jordan chuckled while AJ just smirked.
"I let him off easy considering that he's been trying to steal my wife for the past four years."
"He's playing, don't take him seriously." Jordan waved him off, but AJ's face straightened.
"I don't play about my marriage. If someone constantly flirted with Ivy and insinuated that she'd be better off with them how would you feel?"
"Like I could catch a case" Jordan admitted before he shrugged "I'm not saying you're wrong, but Ralen is my best friend and he's harmless. Besides, after whatever you pulled him aside to say he hasn't even looked in Isla's direction once. He tried it with Ivy too you know?"
