Thinkin' of all them nights I would've rather been with you
Tonight, I wanna have some good fun tonight
I wanna get into something tonight
I just wanna make up for lost time
It should've been a normal surrounding but tonight the energy was different between them in his apartment. Minutes prior he'd been the life of the party and she'd been closing the bar with her sister. She knew that tonight would mean revealing her feelings to him. There was so much that hadn't been said and she knew he would understand. Still, she was unsure if she could communicate what was in her heart clearly.
That was why she'd downed about three shots before she hugged her sister and Kayla then followed Jordan to his car. Now, sitting on the same couch they'd taken countless naps on she wondered if that was the best choice. He cut two pieces of cake and brought hers over before he sat opposite her.
"You really liked that cake huh?" she smiled, and he threw his head back dramatically after taking a bite.
"This is the best red velvet cake I've ever had" he complimented, and she took a bite herself.
He didn't have to know she'd spent all day trying to perfect the recipe. In the end, she'd made him happy and that's all she wanted to achieve.
"I'm glad you feel that way. I don't just bake for anyone."
"So, I'm special then?" He raised a playful eyebrow, but Ivy rolled her eyes at him.
"Something like that" was all she offered.
Still, he could see through her. Placing the empty plate aside, Jordan sat back and observed her with a small smile playing on his lips.
"Ivy come here."
"I'm eating still" she laughed but he looked like he was on a mission. Moving closer to her, he wrapped some of her hair which was still neatly in a ponytail around his finger.
"I'll come to you then" he placed a soft kiss to her temple, and she swooned internally "we have to talk about some things, you promised."
"You couldn't wait until after the cake?"
"Ivy, be for real."
Pouting, she placed her plate to the side and turned to him. She didn't even protest when he placed his hands at her hips and pulled her until she was nearly in his lap. Her legs were resting outside of his, shadowing his waist.
"So, I watched you talk with Ray and JJ. You told me you weren't upset about the invite, but you didn't tell me why you still felt a way."
It shouldn't have been hard to look at him. This was the first question out of the gate, she couldn't be struggling already.
"I guess, I don't know, I looked at your party as a big thing for you. When Isla told me about it and you hadn't my mind went everywhere honestly. I knew you weren't planning it; you didn't even know. Still, the fact that your friends had no idea who I was... that made me second guess exactly what I am to you."
She gathered the strength to look at him as she finished her thought.
"All my friends know about you." Her voice was smaller than she'd intended but he was looking at her so intently she found her breath coming in more labored.
He showed his emotion in his eyes, every time. Jordan Poole was an open book to her, all she had to do was look at him and she could see everything she needed to. Why had she not realized that before? A small smile played at his lips before he rubbed her thigh absently.
