LUNCH WENT BY FAST AND CERISE spent it sat at the Hufflepuff table with Loralei, and quite far away from Cedric. Cho had joined them at the Hufflepuff table, much to Loralei's and Cerise's dismay. She was constantly all over Cedric, and it had put Cerise off her food.

Now, the duo was unfortunately standing by Fred, Lee and George as they all waited for the other two schools to arrive. They were discussing how they thought they would arrive, but Cerise didn't pay attention, she was too busy glaring in Cho's direction.

"Are you okay?" Loralei whispered, taking Cerise's hand in her own.

"Yeah," Cerise replied, "I'm just trying to hold down my food."

Loralei sighed and swapped places with Cerise. Now, Cerise couldn't see Cho or Cedric, but she was stuck standing next to George.

"Aha! Unless I am very much mistaken, the delegation from Beauxbatons approaches!" said Dumbledore.

"Is he blind or what?" Cerise whispered to Loralei, "I can't see anything."

"It's there!" George told Cerise, pointing in the direction of. . . What the fuck what that?  Something was hurtling across the sky toward the castle, growing larger the closer it got.

Students began to shout over each other, trying to figure out what it was exactly.

As it got closer, Cerise saw that it was a gigantic horse and carriage — It was the size of a giant house, with a lot of horses pulling it.

The horses' hooves were way larger than dinner plates, Cerise laughed as she told Loralei they were the size of Cedric's ego. The horses were golden with large, fiery red eyes.

A boy in pale blue robes jumped down from the carriage, bent forward, fumbled for a moment with something on the carriage floor, and unfolded a set of golden steps.

The first person out of the carriage was a little girl, followed by the biggest woman Cerise had ever laid her eyes on.

"Blimey," Loralei said, "That's one big woman."

Dumbledore started to clap; the students, following his lead, broke into applause too. A lot of the students were standing on their tip toes, trying to get a better look at them.

Cerise couldn't care less; She wanted their entrances to be over already.

The woman walked forward towards Dumbledore, extending a glittering hand. Dumbledore. Though he was tall himself, he had to go onto his tip toes to kiss her hand.

"My dear Madame Maxime," he said. "Welcome to Hogwarts."

"Dumbly-dor," said Madame Maxime in a deep voice. Cerise looked at Loralei, both of them laughing. "I 'ope I find you well?"

"In excellent form, I thank you," said Dumbledore.

"My pupils," said Madame Maxime, waving one of her enormous hands carelessly behind her.

There was about a dozen boys and girls, all in their late teens, and they had emerged from the carriage and were now standing behind Madame Maxime. They were shivering, which didn't surprise Cerise; Their robes were made of silk and none of them were wearing cloaks, at least they looked good. Only a few of them had wrapped scarves and shawls around their heads.

"As Karkaroff arrived yet?" Madame Maxime asked.

"He should be here any moment," said Dumbledore. "Would you like to wait here and greet him or would you prefer to step inside and warm up a trifle?"

"Can we go warm up?" Cerise whispered, "They shouldn't be getting special treatment."

"Warm up, I think," said Madame Maxime. "But ze 'orses —"

"Our Care of Magical Creatures teacher will be delighted to take care of them," said Dumbledore, "the moment he has returned from dealing with a slight situation that has arisen with some of his other — er — charges."

"My steeds require — er — forceful 'andling," said Madame Maxime, looking as though she doubted whether any Care of Magical Creatures teacher at Hogwarts could be up to the job. "Zey are very strong. . ."

"I assure you that Hagrid will be well up to the job," said Dumbledore, smiling.

"Very well," said Madame Maxime, bowing slightly. "Will you please inform zis 'Agrid zat ze 'orses drink only single-malt whiskey?"

"It will be attended to," said Dumbledore, also bowing.

"Come," said Madame Maxime imperiously to her students, and the Hogwarts crowd parted to allow her and her students to pass up the stone steps.

"Do you think they'll notice if we sneak off?" Cerise asked Loralei, "I haven't had any birthday cake yet —I'm really fancying some."

Loralei sighed, "I love you, I know you want cake, but I promise you, once the entrances are done, we will sneak off to the kitchens and eat so much cake we'll feel like we're going to explode."

Cerise grinned, "The elves hate me."

"It's your birthday," Loralei stated, "They love their job — they'll make so many cakes."

Cerise grabbed Loralei's hand, before a loud and oddly eerie noise was drifting toward them from out of the darkness. . . It was a muffled rumbling and sucking sound, as though an immense vacuum cleaner were moving along a riverbed. . .

"The lake!" yelled Lee ( which startled Cerise, by the way ), pointing down at it. "Look at the lake!"

The once smooth black surface of the water was suddenly not smooth at all. Great bubbles were forming on the surface, waves were now washing over the muddy banks — and then, out in the very middle of the lake, a whirlpool appeared, as if a giant plug had just been pulled out of the lake's floor. . .

What seemed to be a long, black pole began to rise slowly out of the heart of the whirlpool. . .

The ship rose out of the water, gleaming in the moonlight. It had a strangely skeletal look about it, as though it were a resurrected wreck, and the dim, misty lights shimmering at its portholes looked like ghostly eyes.

In Cerise's opinion, it was way better than Beauxbatons.

With a great sloshing noise, the ship emerged entirely, bobbing on the turbulent water, and began to glide toward the bank. They heard the splash of an anchor being thrown down in the shallows, and the thud of a plank being lowered onto the bank.

"Dumbledore!" The man that lead a group of bulky men up to them called heartily as he walked up the slope. "How are you, my dear fellow, how are you?"

"Blooming, thank you, Professor Karkaroff," Dumbledore replied. When he reached Dumbledore, he shook hands with both of his own.

"Dear old Hogwarts," he said, looking up at the castle and smiling; his teeth were quite yellow ( they actually reminded Cerise of her Hufflepuff robes ). "How good it is to be here, how good. . . Viktor and Elijah come along, into the warmth. . . you don't mind, Dumbledore? They both have a slight head cold. . ."

"IT'S KRUM!" Loralei yelled, her jaw dropped, "He is so fit."

Cerise's eyes were glued to Elijah, "I don't know — Elijah, however. . . Can we go get cake now?"
