      Adrien's (Chat's ) POV:

I was happy to cook for Marinette.

It was a relief that she had not been furious when I told her the truth.

I smiled as I prepared the meal.

I knew Marinette was happy to have me there.

The door bell rang and I frowned.

     Who could it be?

It was my date with her so she wasn't supposed to have anyone else over.

At least, I did not think so since she had not said a word about another company.

I heard Marinette's footsteps as she approached the door.

The door swung open, and I heard Marinette gasp in surprise.

"What are you doing here?  Who gives you the right to show up after all you have done?"

I could tell she was angry. I finished what I was doing, turned off the stove, and joined her.

        "Is everything alright?"

"No, 'cause he is here."  I saw her point at the visitor who stood on her porch.

It was obvious she was not too thrilled to see him whoever he was.

"Are you going to invite me inside and introduce me to your friend here?"

        "Friend, he is my boyfriend!"

I smirked when she shouted at him. Serves him right for disturbing our date night.

"Sorry, but I had to show up to give you this."

I saw her take the envelope and shake her head as she pointed away from the place.

"Shoo, now get out of here. I don't want to see the likes of you at my house ever again."

With that, she slammed the door in his face and locked it.

          "Who was that Marinette?"

       "He is my ex's lawyer."

"What? Why would he have come out here?"

" I am sure I don't know, but bad news usually follows him."

          I walked to the kitchen.

      "The supper is ready."

    "Great, 'cause I am starving."

I knew she was not starving, but I still served her up some of the baked chicken, potatoes, carrots, and pie.

I sat across from her as she ate. I did not say another word about the rude house guest who she left on the porch earlier.

Once the meal was over, I saw her pick up Alyno and carry her into the nursery. I watched as she changed her diaper. Then, looked on as she burped her, sang to her, and laid her in the crib.

It was not until she closed the door, that I  asked, "Do you want me to read whatever is in the envelope?"

"Thank you, Adrien, but that is not necessary."

I smiled as she opened it.

I saw her face fall when she finished.

"No! It is just as I feared. It's my ex-husband, Luka. He says he will sue me for the rights to our daughter if I don't sell the car, and do a slew of other things."

I take the paper from her and frown.

"I can't let him get away with it, Marinette."

"She is your daughter and I intend to see to it she stays that way."

"How? You don't know any good lawyers do you?"

"As a matter, of fact, I do happen to know a few. As it stands, I am a lawyer."

    "What? You, but I..."

"Marinette, before you say anything else, I will not take no for an answer. I will represent you."

"I could not ask you to do that for me."

    "I  want to."

I hugged her close as she sobbed.

Ugh, Luka Cuffaine will regret making my Marinette cry or threatening to take Alyno from her.

    I  kissed her cheek.

Marinette looked up at me in relief. "Okay, I will be glad to have you help me, Adrien."

Author's note: Did Luka decide to sue Marinette for paternal rights to Alyno after all this time?

   To find out, keep reading.
