"Amethyst, get down here!" A voice echoed from the hallway.I groaned loudly, tying my blonde hair up in a messy ponytail.
"Amethyst Hallewell, normal girl," I say to my reflection in the mirror. I try to prepare myself for the long day ahead. Before I knew it I was on all fours searching for something, my nails digging into the black rug from frustration. "Where are you?" I half shouted. I poked my head under the violet-colored bed skirt, nothing but dust bunnies.
"AMZY!" I heard Luna call again, but I didn't budge.
"Okay, focus Amz... Focus," I closed my eyes trying to focus on the object I was looking for. I felt the energy pulsing in the room. Something was pulling me towards my white Chester drawer.
"That would be so cool if it worked," I gushed. It was a trick Iris taught me last year, but I had never really mastered it. Like everything she tries to teach me.
Standing up, I opened the top drawer and different colored tops began flying through the air, i caught a few but most of them hit the ground with a soft thud.
Of course I try one thing and something totally different happens.
The clothes continue flying out, with more force than before, making them hit the purple wall behind me, each piece made a smacking sound. I ignored it, eventually it would empty itself out and the spell would break.
I finally fell to the floor, sticking my hand beneath the dresser. "Come on," I groaned out, my violet eyes widening in frustration.
My fingers finally grasped something cold, round, and dime-sized. "Got ya, little bugger!"
I pulled out the pink stone earring, quickly placing it in my ear as I ran out of the room, leaving my clothes to their dance of chaos. The sound of my feet hitting the wooden steps was loud, the creaking of each step louder than the next, "Luna?" I called out to the empty staircase.
"Luna?!"I peeked my head around the corner, looking into the living room. The burgundy walls clashed with the olive-colored curtains.
The brown leather sofa was empty, and the fireplace was left on. "LUNA?!" I shouted louder this time.
"In the kitchen!" Luna shouted back. I turned a sharp right, making my way to the kitchen I noticed an aroma of lavender and sage perfumed the air.
I stepped inside the small space and Luna looked up at me with her brilliant blue eyes sparkling, shiny black hair pulled back into a neat bun, and her perfectly red lips curled into a smile only to reveal pearly white teeth, Luna Vetra was the elder witch of Amethysts coven- at only thirty-nine years old. I believe she might have even been the youngest at her time.
"I smell a protection spell," I cooed, taking another whiff of the lavender aroma coming from the large copper pot in front of her.
"Good nose," she said with a flick of her wrist, green leaves gracefully danced their way from a nearby bowl and into the pot. "More Sage and that should be done." The kitchen was a mint color, with dark wooden shelves above the dark granite countertops, and a small breakfast table perched in the corner by the small window that overlooked the backyard, or lack thereof.
"What are we protecting?"
"Well, we just moved in. I love London as much as the next witch, but I wouldn't want anything coming in uninvited." Luna stirred the copper pot with a wooden spoon, her eyes focused on the contents of the pot. She looked delicate, fragile almost. Ironic considering she's the strongest witch I know.
I hated the way witches were portrayed in movies; ugly, green-skinned, and warts. Not fair, I've yet to meet a witch who wasn't prettier than the next. Our coven was dedicated to keeping the balance of supernatural life safe, nothing like what was on television or in movies. I've yet to see anyone eat a child or drink their soul juice for youth.
