I text her again, asking if she's still meeting me at our spot. She says she needs some time, something came up with her coven. She won't explain anything else...

I pull into my driveway and take a deep breath, there's going to be so much happening in that house and I know I'm not ready to tell my father I'm leaving, but I'm not ready to go back to life without her.

I step into the foyer and I can smell blood, which is instantly a bad sign. It's fresh too. Making my way to the kitchen I find Gwen in wolf form, sprawling on the counter top- most of her hanging over. Mother and father are crouched over her, I can smell the worry. "What's happened?"

"Luke's missing!" Mother shrieks. "Gwen is healing so slowly," her voice cracks. I push passed them to see the slashes of claws on her side and face. Her left leg looks broken pretty badly. Lord what happened to her? She was fine when I left to talk to Amethyst! She was suppose to run home to explain to mum and dad...

"Gwen, did Luke do this?" I hear my parents make a shocked sound like how could I think that.

She looks at me, her grey eyes say no. That only leaves one other person; Amelia.

"What happened Ryder," my father demands from me. Where do I even begin? I'm dating a witch, your son is a traitor or sorry I'm running off with a hunter slash witch?

"Luke's been apart of it the whole time," I start.

"He's been helping Ortu, telling them everything- keeping them one step ahead this whole time," as I explain the horrific truth I can't help but feel the pain of guilt. It's my fault, I never pay enough attention to Luke.

"Don't be ridiculous, your bother is the perfect picture of-" I put a hand up and interrupt him, something I've never done.

"I know what's happening father!"

Gwen makes a sound to agree with me. She's healing so slowly that if she keeps this up she'll be dead in a few hours. There's nothing I can do either, if Amelia came after her- she was already Alpha. It's hard to heal from that.

"This can't be true, not our Luke."

I actually feel bad for my father, because I know he favors Luke. I'm not happy to deliver the news that his favorite son and my only brother betrayed us.

Gwen makes a whining sound and I almost loose my mind right there. She can't die, not like this- she's stronger than this.

"Gwen," I look her in the eyes. "You're going to make it through this. You're going to heal up."
I pet her stained fur, it takes too much energy to change back and she needs to heal faster- but being hurt as a wolf is much more frustrating.

"Who did this, do we even know?!" Father's angry, he's scared and he's angry...

"Gwen killed the alpha, it was the Warren boy. But there's another one, his sister- she must have done this to Gwen."

"Jim Warrens son is the leader of Ortus?"

"Was. He's dead now." I answered with an angry tone, I didn't mean to. Something was building inside me, the realization that Luke didn't just betray us but let Gwendolyn get hurt.

I stood there watching my sister suffer, watching my mother cry and father try to understand where he went wrong with us all; Luke did this all. The plan of running off with Amethyst seemed far fetched now, leaving them to pick up the pieces. Leaving Gwen to suffer like this, to not even know if she'll make it through the night.
