"NO!"I expected to feel the wolfsbane powder; but nothing. When I move my arms I see the dark substance frozen in the air, hovering over us only by a few feet.
"Dear sweet baby Jesus."
Both Iris and Luna glued to their current positions.
I want to pat myself on the back, but I'm not sure how I did this, or how to undo it.
I can't work on releasing everything now, I'll risk loosing Ryder.
I walk back over to the frozen form of Gwen, her eyes seem scared as I pet her fur; her mouth wide open mid-attack.
"What did I do..."
I focus all of my energy on breaking the spell on Gwen, but nothing happens. My only thought is how to get rid of the wolfsbane powder.
I walk over and just swat it away; amazingly enough it works! Dropping to the grass. It tingles my hands as I push every drop to the ground.
I steal the pouch from a Iris and replace it with a rock, sure it's not the time for pranks but whatever.
Now... My furry friends.
It's like I can feel the energy radiating off them; the magic.
I put my hands out, instead of trying to release them- I begin to siphon what I have put out. I focus on pulling the magic that's turned them into living statues.
The more I pull, the more I can see it; like energy. A silvery rope of what looks like electricity is being absorbed by my fingers. I'm startled at first but after a moment I feel empowered.
Take that history books! Never taught me this!
Gwen is the first to move, then all at once they're free of the hold. The chaos continues immediately, everyone must feel sick from the magic because they're all a little disoriented.
"OWE!" Something hard hit me in the back. Like a...
"Is this what we get!" Luna is shouts, while the wolves run into the woods.
"We raised you, fed you! Clothed you! AND YOU GIVE US A ROCK TO DEFEND OURSELVES!" She's is loosing control, the ends of her hair are floating- she's pissed.
"Guys, you have to listen to me-" Luna slaps me straight across the face.
"I'm disowning you!" She shouts in my face. "You choose them over us," she sneers, pointing to the tress. "Then stay with them!"
"Apple doesn't fall far from the tree," I heard Iris say under her breath before turning around to follow Luna.
They both walk off leaving me alone in the middle of the clearing. I hadn't really noticed the sun had set, I hadn't really realized that I betrayed my coven.
It dawned on me how right Luna was, that I had picked the wolves over them. But what did Iris mean?
"A-Amz," a voice croaks from behind me. I must have been sitting there for a while because it's pitch black, except for the moon.
I look up and realize the moon is glowing purple, a bright illumination in the dark sky. It was almost the exact match for my eyes.
Ryder pulls me in for a hug, "Are you okay?"
His face is pretty torn up, "I'm fine, but you're not!"
He shakes his head, grey eyes tired. "I'll be healed before the nights up, it's just Alpha bites take longer to heal."
"What happen to Gwen?" I caress his cheek, I think I need this man next to me now more than ever.
"She's safe. We know who the alpha is now." I nod, of course we do. It's my best friends brother! Brother...
"Luke... He's-" he nods before I can finish.
"Gwen told me what he had done to her. I can't believe it. I can't believe I didn't figure it out, the way he was acting and everything. I've just been so oblivious to anything that isn't you," he says pulling me closer.
"I'm sorry," I mutter. I feel kind of terrible now. Sorry I came here and destroyed your life...
"No, baby I didn't mean it like that. It's just- you're my whole world now." He takes a deep breath. "Warren is dead."
"You killed him?" I'm not surprised.
"No, actually Gwen did. He had me for a minute, I wasn't healing fast enough, that's when she came out of no where and-" he grimaced. "I didn't know she even had that kind of strength in her."
Gwen? Nails done, hair done Gwen? That's a shock but also a huge relief.
"I don't know how to tell my father any of this," he had his face in his hands. The battle is won but the war isn't over...
"My coven disowned me tonight," I confess, since we're talking about family issues.
A grin played on his lips and I can't understand how he finds this funny. "Can they even do that, don't you all make like a blood oath or some rubbish- stay together forever?"
"No!" I shove him a little bit of course he doesn't budge. I can't help but smile at him.
This man is the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm not that kind of person, that mushy-lovey-dovey type, but this man brings all of that out of me.
"Amethyst," he puts his hands on either side of my face. "Run away with me. Just run off with me now, go back pack your things and we'll leave together."
"What about your crown?" I use air-quotes for the last.
"I don't want to rule over a hundred packs," he says kissing my cheeks. "I just need you. Luke and father can sort that out on their own."
"W-What about your family.. They won't allow that!" Run off with him?
Could I do that? I mean his family hates me, my family hates him and right now both our families hate each other.
I could go home and try to fix things with the girls, with my family or I could run off with this man.
I can't really imagine living without him, those thoughts are dark and scary. But can I really leave my only family behind?
"It doesn't matter if they like it or not," he says kissing my forehead. "We'll leave London. We can go anywhere, do anything; as long as your with me."
His love feels almost overwhelming right now, comforting but suffocating at the same time. "I don't know, Ryder."
How can he leave his own family behind in the middle of all of this? Why does my stomach feel so nervous?
"Look at me," he presses his forehead to mine. "This has been the longest, most horrible day of my life and the only thing I'm sure of is that I need you in it more than ever. I've never been more sure that you're my future."
How can you say no to that?
He pulls me in for a kiss and I can taste the blood and sweat of his day, he smells like the woods and for some reason and we stand there I can't help but melt from his strong arms wrapped around me tightly.
He's releasing all of his stress and anxiety with this kiss, his lips pressed hard against mine, his tongue roughly swiping across my lips as it demand entrance into my mouth and I can't help but oblige.
It was a hungry and needy feeling between us, the way he pulled my shirt above my head as I ripped open his blood stained shirt. I never thought I would find myself lying on the cold ground with nothing but the warmth of his perfect body against mine.
I could barely breath as I let our moan after moan, Ryder kissing my neck wildly as he brought me to my climax. With a few more rough motions he found released and collapsed beside me.
It was dark and the only light was that awful purple glowing moon. "Tell me you'll leave with me, that I can have you like this whenever I want. That you'll be mine?"
I look at him; his grey eyes are so innocent and worried... "Of course I will."
