With the school day over, I rushed past the iron gates to where Iris had dropped me off. I didn't have a bad day, but I could see never stepping in here and being okay with that. I looked back at the massive structure and grimaced.

I miss Georgia.

I sat on an old wooden bench and waited for her to show up, grabbing my outdated smartphone and scrolling through social media. The first thing on my feed was one of my previous classmates jumping into a pool. "Man..." I grumbled as I saw a photo of my friends on the lake in Savannah.

"Homesick?" A small voice asked, I looked up to see Amelia smiling at me.

"A little," I said with a shrug, "I'll get over it." I scooched over to make room for her, she plopped down beside me. Her red locks bounced on her shoulders, and a smell of cookies and toothpaste emanated from her.

Amelia hadn't spoken much in the three classes we had together, she seemed to be very shy and well-mannered, I envied her for not being loud and clumsy. "I've never been to America, it looks wicked fun in the movies," she toyed with a lock of her auburn hair.

"It's pretty fun, I wasn't too wild though," I stated with a shrug of my shoulders. "Isn't London supposed to be the greatest place in the world?" I had a sarcastic undertone, after an entire day of hearing my classmates just refer to me as 'the American', in an insulting way as if Americans were all idiots. I mean... Not all of us.

"It's not the worst," Amelia countered. "It's just home, I S'pose." She rested her back on the bench, "But America has that fit bloke, Robbie Amell. He's just to die for!"

I perked up, "I love him! He's so hot." We both gushed over one of my favorite celebrities.

I did not have many female friends, the reason behind that was because after living in a coven with two women most of my life, I didn't need any more female drama. I only had one girlfriend back in Georgia, a human girl named Lacy.

Though we moved around a lot we found ourselves back in Georgia whenever we had a quiet phase. My favorite thing about Lacy is she never asked why we traveled so much; she was always just happy to have me back for movie nights.

"Are you coming to the Gala? Most of the school is going, it's being hosted by some Alumni." Amelia asked with hopeful eyes.

A gala? No, please. I'd rather poke my eyes out before more people stare at me funny.

"What for?"

"A massive party, once a year to save something," she snorted. "The only reason all the students are invited is to boost the popularity of the host's son." Amelia's tone was disgusted but her eyes showed a kind of longing as she explained in great detail who hosted the gala.

"The Galtero family is well known, actually they put in that new wing for the library," she said with such enthusiasm, like gossip might just be her favorite thing. "Every year they raise a bunch of money for some charity or another, everyone who isn't a student pays loads to get into."

I cringe and she doesn't notice.

"It's very posh, I hate going but my mum insists. Some rubbish about being around wealth makes you wealthy, silly I know. "

I hadn't spoken and yet she was still going. This girl who didn't say anything the whole day, was now rambling on, endlessly. I could have sat there quiet for another ten minutes and I was positive Amelia wouldn't have minded. I loved that.

"You have to come; you'll be the most interesting person there!" She had gotten that all out without taking a breath, I was still processing everything she said.
