An entire week has passed, Luna and Iris have been treating me like the enemy. They whisper a lot and have been going hunting without me.
Ryder and I though have never been better, except for the fact that tonight I am going to meet his family.
I explained to him this plan was ridiculous, but he's charming and old fashion and wants his mother to meet me.
Summer break started yesterday and Luke ran off to Paris with his friends, so it will only be Gwen, Ryder his parents and I.
This is going to be really horribly awkward, Ryder isn't going to tell his family I'm a witch. Gwen knows, he hasn't told me what she said yet, but if he's keeping it from me it probably wasn't pretty.
I heard the funeral for Jake was pretty low key, Ryder said that whoever is running Ortus didn't show up.
I keep thinking about it though; dead Jake Peterson.
"We're leaving," Luna says curtly as she a Iris exit through the front door dressed in all black.
That's how they've been acting with me since the night Jake died.
I am trying not to feel bad, but it's hard not to. They did raise me, Luna Vetra was the woman who taught me how to ride a bike without training wheels, sure she used magic but still- she's as close to a mother that I've had.
I can't stop thinking about the secrets they've been keeping from me. Lately everything is so upside down in my life.
I'm sure they are gone, it's been around thirty minutes. I take a look in the mirror by the steps to make sure my flowery dress looks right and my hair is secured in a tight bun.
I look silly, but I want to look impressive. These people are going to dislike me from the moment they meet me. These aren't my colors, I like more natural tones; like black.
First I take the crystals from under the mat and break the wolfs-bane circle, otherwise Ryder won't be able to come fifty feet near the house right out having a heart attack.
I send a text to the anxious werwolf waiting for me, it's like he read my mind, before I could hit send there's a knock at the door.
I fuss with a loose hair before opening the door. To my surprise it's Amelia, looking distraught.
"Sorry to barge in," she says literally barging in. Something isn't right, her skin is paler than usual.
Her red locks are loose and wild, which is very unlike my preppy friend.
She takes a seat in the living room and I follow her lead. "What's wrong?""It's a long story," she says in her delicate British accent. Well I don't have a long time, I mean I have a dinner to get to!
I try to relax, she's the only friend I have right now. "Tell me, I have time." LIES.
She takes a deep breath, "My brothers returned. I saw him just today! After being gone nearly a decade!"
I don't really remember the story she told me, but it was something along the lines of he never came home from college.
"Oh," I am trying to sound like I understand the severity of this. "Shouldn't you be excited?"
She shakes her head, eyes wide. "Something's not right, I think he's on drugs!"
"Drugs?" I didn't mean to laugh but I couldn't help it.
"Yes!" She puts her hands over her face. "He's got a horrible cut on his arm, he walked in bleeding just a few night ago. I've been home with him, just watching him!"
