a/n: big big spoilers for Bram Stoker's Dracula, both book and movie!
"The book starts with Jonathan Harker, he's one of the main characters in the book, describing his travel to Dracula. He describes his ways of transportation and how weird things happen when he mentions that he will visit the Count Dracula. He wants to help the Count finalize legal business regarding a purchase in London, it's the reason he travels all the way to Draculas castle located in the principality of Transylvania." he retells as you close the window to stop the cold, biting air from entering and turn off the big light to prepare for going to sleep.
"Against the Count's warning Jonathan walks around the castle at night and even falls asleep in another room than his own, also against Draculas warning. He then wakes up to three Vampire woman that want to kill him and drink his blood but plays still asleep when the Count calms the woman and takes their minds off Harker by giving them a small child in a bag that they kill and eat." Chrollos deep and calming voice guides you to your bed in the darkness where you quickly cover yourself with your sheets after Chrollo stood up to sit on the other side of the bed to sit beside you.
he tells you to lay down in a pause of his retelling while he himself stays in a sitting position.
"Harker then escapes the Count's castle while he's away and ends up in a Hospital in Budapest. During that time Dracula is already taking a ship to London with earth from his castle to make London his new feeding ground."
you make yourself comfortable under the sheets, cover yourself with them all the way up to your chin and just let the cold air tickle your face.
"Lucy Westenea, the best friend of Harker's fiancée Mina Murray, writes her a letter about three marriage proposals she has gotten and tells her she has decided for Arthur Holmwood. Mina joins Lucy on holiday in Whitby where Lucy begins sleepwalking. After Dracula's ship lands in Whitby he stalks Lucy. Mina receives a letter about her missing fiancé's illness and goes to Budapest to nurse him and Lucy becomes very ill after Mina left."
you feel your eyelids become more heavy with each passing minute.
Chrollos voice is so sickenly soothing that you consider asking him to read every book in the study room aloud to you each night to help you fall asleep.
"Dr. John Seward, one of the three men who proposed to Lucy, asks his old teacher Abraham Van Helsing for help and the Professor determines the nature of Lucy's condition but refuses to disclose it. He diagnoses Lucy with acute blood-loss and places garlic flowers around her room and makes her a necklace of them but Lucy's mother removes the garlic because she doesn't know that it repels Vampires. While Seward and Van Helsing are absent, Lucy and her mother are terrified by a wolf and Lucy dies shortly after her mother who suffered a heart attack."
your breathing slows down, evens out and you can feel your head lightening with sleep.
"After her burial, newspapers report children being stalked in the night by a beautiful lady and Van Helsing connects it is Lucy. The four, the three men who proposed to Lucy and the professor, go to her tomb and see that she is a vampire. They stake her heart, behead her, and fill her mouth with garlic. Jonathan Harker and his now-wife Mina have returned, and they join the campaign against Dracula."
you're still listening to Chrollo's words but you can't quiet understand them anymore because your mind is already drifting off to sleep.
you're almost fallen asleep when Chrollo asks "have you fallen asleep?" but you're too tired to answer.
you hear him chuckle before the bedsheets crackle under movement and a moment later he gently places his hand on your head, strokes down a few times before his hand rests on your head.
when you're woken up the next morning by your alarm, Chrollo is pressed against your back and his arm cages you in.
as soon as you realize this, you're wide awake.
your alarm keeps going but you're unable to move, Chrollo doesn't move either.
it's not particularly Chrollo's arm over you that is so tight you can't move, you just..can't.
you don't even particularly care if you wake him up or not.
it's just..he's so warm.
you've noticed for a while already that Chrollo got warmer and warmer, he's still much colder than a usual human being but much warmer than how he was when he started to appear to you.
"won't you turn it off?"
his voice vibrates in his chest and you flinch at the sudden sound of his voice.
there's no sleepiness in his voice so you guess he's been awake for a while already.
"y-yeah, sorry.." you say, free your arm from under his and turn off the still blaring alarm on your phone.
now you feel embarassed for not turning your alarm off earlier.
Chrollo doesn't make another move to be closer to you, he wordlessly watches you sit up and stretching.
you're still kinda tired despite being wide awake a few moments ago but the shock is gone and the sleepyness sits back in, weighing your eyelids down.
but as much as you want to go back to sleep you know you can't, you've been gone from work for a hot minute already and you don't want to step on anyones foot by not showing up or being late because you really need this job.
it's your only source of income, your savings as good as gone.
so you get up and go straight into the bathroom to get ready.
by the time you step back into your bedroom Chrollo is gone.
visually at least because it somewhat feels like he's still in the room.
you try to shake this feeling off, blaming yourself that you've only grown accustomed to him and his presence.
and yet you colllect the things you want to wear today and get changed in the bathroom, you don't even clearly know yourself why.
